Ferfuchsake!
Hopefully we can see past old has beens and either be bold and spend money on trying to attract a "marquee" manager, or be bold and try someone with an upward trajectory.
Fishing in the same stale pool of managers is gonna produce the same stale old results.

Doubt it we should have gone with Potter and let him work his magic but no the good old pool of British failures always manage to find work!

Bbc breakfast east just said he’s the favourite for the West Brom job

Steer well clear. His football makes Pulis look like Guardiola. Town fans are notoriously patient, but even they've had enough of 'Big Mick' & his anti football. If Stoke want to set up at home for a point against Barnsley next year then he'd be a great appointment.

Bbc breakfast east just said he’s the favourite for the West Brom job Why on earth would West Brom rush to get him now they are hardly going to have to beat off the opposition? Have they looked at Ipswich's record this year and thought we will have some of that, all very strange.

If he is the calibre of manager we were looking at why wouldn't we just stick with Lambo? I hasten to add I have no idea if we have approached him.

Would be a waste of cash to replace 1 dinosaur with another.
The top 2 in the championship are both managed by Johnny Foreigners who seem to be doing fine. I know we are run by 'football people' (shorthand for the old boys network) but couldn't they take a gamble on a different kind of manager?

If we were suddenly to have a managerial vacancy, Mick McCarthy would tick all the boxes as far as Peter Coates is concerned.

He's had a good career has Mick. I don't get all the negativity around him. You could do far, far, worse in the Championship that is for stone bollock certain and did OK for Ireland. Seems a decent bloke as well. I wouldn't break down any doors to get him but I think you'd be in decent hands for a tilt at the Championship. You'd have to be brutal if he got you up though and loyal old Pete wouldn't have it in him!

Yep listened to his interview and he seems to be a decent bloke and a man of principal and integrity.
Could have hung on and dragged it out till sacked and paid off

I agree, I wouldn't want him here but it does appear he's done the honourable thing and resigned. How many usurious fuckers would have dragged it out to the bitter end to enrich themselves financially

He's a master at doing things on a budget, whatever "things" are. If he turned up here in the summer it would be a surefire pointer as to where we are going!
Funny bloke in a Jack Dee, miserable git type of way but not for me as a football manager.
I'd honestly have Lambert before him.

Hasn't had a pot to piss in at Ipswich, free transfers, loans and minimal outlay on any signings and yet they've never been in danger of relegation which is a fair achievement in a league as relentless as that one.
Obviously, I haven't seen the football down there which I'm guessing is the reason the fans dislike him so much but I think there grievances should be with the owners rather than him. A decent budget and he would have had them in the play offs during his stint there, I'm sure.
