We won't stay up - 6 wins all season, 1 win in the last 10 games and our survival will probably depend on us winning 3 out of the remaining 5 games including Liverpool away ! PL has got us fitter, more organised defensively, and playing more as a team but we still can't score enough to win games. I can't see any way that we will avoid the drop. Agreed. The sad thing is I really believe just the addition of one decent striker in January and we wouldn't be where we are. I agree it's the lack of goals since Christmas that has been the achilles heel for Lambert. unfortunately much easier said than done, remember how many on here were tearing their hair out when West Brom rather than us landed the Sturridge loan deal.

Can we avoid relegation ? No way ! Why ? Have you watched the match vs Spurs last saturday ? Any team unable to score from a 5 vs 1 counterattack situation (not even create a goal scoring opportunity, let alone score !!) has no chance in hell to conjure a great escape !! That Diouf fuck up really summed him up. A player so horribly short on confidence that he wasn't willing to shoot, and so short on actual talent that he couldn't find a single player. We're shit. and we know we are. Cant agree more Are we one of the worst 3 teams in the Prem? No doubt about it; hence we deserve to go down

If we had this same team with fuller or arnie up front we would not go down
Selling Arnie was simply criminal

Writing off the Liverpool game, imho we're going to need 36-37pts, factoring in our poor GD. So that's 3 wins and 1 draw from WHU, Burnley, Palace, and Swansea.
Anyone fancy putting decent money on that??

If we had this same team with fuller or arnie up front we would not go down Selling Arnie was simply criminal I agree. Arni is very eccentric but he’s is also not stupid. He saw a “lack of ambition” which either spoiled his relationship with the club, with Hughes or both. You can see from his recent performances and his partnership with Chicharito that he knew what everyone could see - we needed to buy a striker. With Shaq, Arni and a good striker like Chicharito and we would be ripping up trees. Instead we got Choupo-Moting on a free transfer, Berahino (enough said) and Jese.

If we had this same team with fuller or arnie up front we would not go down Selling Arnie was simply criminal Arnie wanted away and would have been a sulking nightmare if he had stayed, the issue was the failure to adequately replace him and even more so to fill the glaring lack of a goal scorer. Jese/Ramadan was suposed to do the former and Berahino coming good the later, unfortunately neither expectation worked out.

The issue was the replacement, not the fact of letting him go.

It's almost like the polar opposite of the Route One Worldy scored by Crouch. That feels like an eternity ago now. It will probably be an eternity before we play Man City again. It feels a long time ago indeed.

No we are not staying up, and it's probably for the best actually.
If we DID stay up, the same squad of shite would be used next season as well. There would be no real money spent. Plus we'd probably cash in on Jack and Shaq as well.
Anyone fancy betting on a club going an entire season without a win? That's us that is.
So it's better we go down really, and make utter fools of ourselves in the lower leagues where nobody notices or cares.

Whilst stating the blindingly obvious, of course it's possible, providing we can pick up a few more points than our nearest rivals. But given our form it's looking increasingly unlikely.
From way back in January and Lambert's lack of 'new manager bounce' when we failed to beat our rivals and ended up with mostly draws instead, I felt we would be relying on a miraculous escape from 3 or 4 of our last five games. Bookies have us gone, many of our own fans have us gone, but the fact remains that we're not gone until it's mathematically impossible to escape and that could include up to the last few minutes of the Swansea game.

The difference between this season and last is one player and we all know who it is.. Arnie in this stoke team and more points would be on the board just look at west hams revival, by not finding someone adequate to replace him was stupid, we have recently been recently relaying on frees or loans and it aint a good combination.

In answer to the OP yes, it is of course possible and I'd bare my arse in Bratt & Dykes window if it happened.......but, is it likely? - all the indicators are no - since Hughes fucked off we do look better but a deadly combination of bad luck, shit refs & impotency / fuckwitery in front of goal & elsewhere has cost us dear - it's agony and I totally get where folk are coming from - we all want the same thing, and fading hope is all we have now......BUT is was all avoidable......ARGGGGGHHHHHHHHH! Have you been to Hanley lately Can you choose a different store please and don't say Tandy, C&A or Rumbelows!

Anyone fancy betting on a club going an entire season without a win? That's us that is. So it's better we go down really, and make utter fools of ourselves in the lower leagues where nobody notices or cares. There are precedents for that. Looking at previous seasons, the most probable teams to go down are the promoted sides, but after them the next most probable teams to get relegated are the teams that struggled the previous season. West Brom are exceptional in that they finished 10th last season but had a dreadful end to the season only winning once in their last 12 matches. We have won once in our last 14 matches. Sunderland finished 17th the season before they were relegated. Villa finished 17th the season before they were relegated. Newcastle were 15th and Sunderland 16th that same season, and Newcastle went down with Villa. Hull were 16th in 2014, the season before they were relegated. 2014 is the last season when 2 teams were relegated (Norwich and Fulham) that had finished comfortably in mid table the previous season. All the evidence is that whoever actually just avoids the drop is highly likely to go down the next season with one or two of the promoted sides. There are plenty of examples though of teams pulling the fat out of the fire and avoiding the drop when all seemed lost: Last season Swansea; 2016 - Sunderland; 2015 - Sunderland and Leicester; 2014 - Sunderland; 2013 - no team; 2012 - Wigan and QPR (saved by someone called Mark Hughes) QPR finished 17th, and as we all remember had a dreadful start under Hughes the next season and, despite Hughes being removed after just 12 matches, went down. Maybe we would still be in the same position today, even if Hughes had been sacked earlier?

If we don't beat West Ham on Monday, we're humped. Arnie, will score at least twice, we're down. 2 Own Goals? Nah, I think you're deluded.
