Could the direction the club takes and decisions they make on a number of issues be a pivotal point in the club's recent history?

The last two summer transfer windows should have been the important ones but we mostly either bought poorly or failed to address the areas that needed improving. Instead of trying to fix the roof while the sun was shining, we have waited for the foundations to collapse.

Yes a big summer looms and, isnt It reassuring to know that probably more than half the complete and utter cretins that led is into this debacle are still at the club. Great eh?

We have some promising youngsters coming through who could prosper in the Championship, but who aren't ready for the PL yet like Edwards, Ngoy, Verlinden, Sweeney, Souttar, Telford and Campbell. We will also need to rely on some of them as I belive Shaq, Allen, Butland, Crouch, Wimmer (I hope), Imbula, Bojan and maybe one or two of the others as well will go to PL clubs or leave England. A striker, a goalkeeper and a central midfielder must be the priority if we stay up or not I think.
....................Grant................... Bauer........Shawcross...Indi........Tymon Diouf......Cameron......Badou........Chapou ..............Campbell..................... ....................Berahino.................
Subs: Bursik, Sweeney, Pieters, Edwards, Souttar, Sobhi, Ireland, NGoy, Telford.

Last summer we could have got rid of Johnson, Afellay, Adam, Ireland and Crouch. All were kept. All still need replacing. 3 of them have a contract for next season.

I believe that Johnson and Ireland are the 2 out of contract? As for the others.... Afellay - it wouldn't surprise me if he got an offer from somewhere like China, he would be big billing because of his Barca connections... Crouch - I have a feeling that a lower-mid-table prem team or a championship side might come in for him - if nothing else he would generate positive publicity for said suitor Which leaves us with Adam, who I think we are stuck with unless someone else sees him as a no.10 rather than a centre-mid...

Should be a big close season if we have any thoughts of bouncing back. But i doubt anything major will happen with the current set up changes needed at the top first of all.

We will have trouble shifting those who are still sitting on lengthy and large Stoke contracts like Wimmer, Saido, Bojan and Imbula. Even Crouch, Adam and Fletcher have another year each, don't they?!?!??!
They key for me will be if we can keep the middle level players. We all know Jack, Joe and Shaq are goners, but our immediate future will hinge on how many we can keep of the likes of Badou, Bauer, Shawcross, Martins Indi, Pieters, Cameron, Diouf and Choupo, all of whom could form the basis of a decent enough squad to start life in the Championship.
If we had Grant, Bauer, Shawcross, Martins Indi, Pieters, Cameron and Badou as starters, we could focus most of our recruitment efforts on the front end of the team, where we lack pace, guile and goal scoring ability. Yes, we have a few kiddies with promise, but any chance of threatening an immediate return to the top flight requires heavy investment in those who can create and score the goals to get us back up.

They were 100M+ in debt to a local owner who everyone thought would write it off. He didn't. We are currently at 60-70Mish to the Coates family with relegation and a huge loss in revenue imminent. Never say never in business.

Agree with Edwards, but that looks about it with the youngsters for me If Indi and Shawcross are still here when we kick-off next season I would be amazed. The likes of Huddersfied, Burnley, Newcastle & West Ham will be straight in there for these type of players - Rafa is a big Shawx fan. Sure I also heard somewhere that Pieters is off no matter what happens. Would be nice if we could keep Shawx, Indi, Bauer and Pieters as this would be a solid platform to build on, but highly unlikely and I think only Bauer will still be here next season out of that lot, although not sure what is going on with Indi's contract There will be a whole host of clubs in for Ramadan and I don't think he would be happy with being on the bench in the championship - the Liverpool manager is a fan of him also Football is about opinions but for me Tymon & Campbell are not good enough for the championship at the moment and Berhino is possibly finished as a footballer, be surprised if he is also not off-loaded by Lambert. Key word next season is team. Bardsley eluded to Stoke losing the team ethic and having too many players just playing for themselves and not encouraging and helping each other - so that means off-loading quite a few and bringing in a lot of new faces

I'd be very surprised if any of Edwards, Tymon, Sweeney, Souttar, Verlinden, Campbell, Telford or Ngoy really figured next year.
None of them seem to have done anywhere near enough to suggest they could figure at that level yet.
I think it'll be loans all 'round for that lot, and maybe Telford released?
Amazingly Verlinden has yet to get onto the St Pauli bench.

They are the only ones who I could possibly see pushing for regular first team involvement (depending on new recruits) of the "kiddies".

Of our 'good' players, I think we'll keep Bauer, Shawcross and BMI - and Pieters if you're counting him. So defence will be okay.
There could be interest in BMI, but hard to see anyone matching his Stoke deal. He's got 4 years left on £50,000+.
I doubt Bauer has made sufficient ripples in 2 months for teams to make us an unturndownable offer, as good as he's been
Possibly Ndiaye too - but, again, it's hard to see anyone matching his deal here based on what he's done thus far (although jury's out on him). Is anyone going to put £15m down for him? No chance.
We'll basically need a total rebuild elsewhere if we're going to mount any kind of challenge.
And rebuilding in the Championship is very tough. What standard of player do you go for? What standard can you attract?
You need a certain type to get out (and they normally cost £8-10m+), and anyone willing to come to you in the Championship normally proves not up to it if you go up.
Minefield with a rebuild like that, especially with the Pizza Boys presiding over it.

When we were staring relegation in the face but with a chance to avoid it they did not improve the forward line.
That is unforgivable. I have zero faith in those running the club.
With a decent forward or two we would now be clear of the relegation zone.

Sweeney did well in 16-17 - but has been on the bench for pretty much all this year apparently. N'Goy's got a couple of goals, but whether that's enough to suggest he'll cut it in the Championship, who knows? I think anything we get out of any of them will be a nice bonus. Edwards could be nice-back-up to Bauer - but is that best for his development? Or is he better on loan in League 1?

The big boys will wait to asset strip us making it difficult to do business. We have to face facts we are at the bottom of the list when it comes to agent responses now.
