Is it really so bad to drop down to the championship I find it difficult to type those words after our meteoric rise as an established premier team and before the boot is put in let me explain I am a supporter of over 50 years and have seen it all, from the depths of the first division, losing to Blythe Spartans, Ive seen managers and players come and go and I never thought that we would ever get into the premier league, but we did and I enjoyed seeing us up against the best teams and compete. The last 2 seasons have been droll, accepting 3 top 10 finishes seemed to be ok but we as fans wanted us to push on to european football. Instead the club seemed content to continue and the desire seemed to wain. Now we are on the precipice looking at the championship and I for one are not that upset. It may be if we do drop that we will bounce back, on the other hand we might not. We are now looking at other teams to help with results as we did watching and hoping for a man u win If we do by some small miracle escape the drop I hope that the chairman and other members of the board learn from this season debacle I live in hope

Not if we win all the others! We cant score goals let alone win. Shaq will do a Sir Stan on the last day by running from the halfway line, rounding the keeper an planting the ball in the net!

If we'd won 4 points from the last 2 games I'd have given us a decent chance. I'm now looking at the various permutations in the Championship for next season and we've got a good few tasty games. I can see Derby, Villa and Birmingham staying in the league so if you count WBA there are 8 big midland derbies, plus good games against the likes of both Sheffield sides, Leeds and Notts Forest. Never been to Preston or Shrewsbury. Throw in the likes of Ipswich, Norwich and QPR and it makes a far more competitive and interesting league than the Premier league in my opinion despite the fact I'd rather be in the Premier League!!!

I’m bored with the Prem. If we stay and my opinion is we won’t, we’re going to Butland and Shaq for starters anyway. There would have to be a massive clear out, we say that every year and then the scramble would be on for 11 wins and 7/8 draws which means we lose half our games.
Nah, Nige. Fuck that, I feel like a change. No guarantees of course but I don’t mind a change of scenery. Only downside is that Fulham look like coming up.

I'm a bit like the OP don't mind the championship personally it's not a bad league and it's even enough. A few things bother me.
A lot of people at the club will lose their jobs and it won't be those who ought to.
The club does a lot of community work with the money it gets from sky . In a city where lots of services have been savaged by cuts it will leave a big hole if they can't afford to keep it going.
The profile of the City is helped by having a club on the gravy train and it's in no fit state to lose any positive aspect .
Finally what shower of shite will we have to watch. The loanees and good players will be gone and I worry that we have lazy wankers on long contracts who we will be stuck with and who won't hack it in that league and take us down further .
I'm really struggling to raise the enthusiasm to renew a ticket if I'll be watching Berahino , Cheap no motion. Wimmer , Imbula etc drawing money for fuck all after taking us down.

It’s a fucking wank league and will result in job losses and a loss of income throughout the area from no longer having a premiership team.
It’ll be a complete disaster.

If I had any confidence that the board would invest to get out of the Championship then I might be a little warmer on the idea. My fear is fuck all will be invested and we will at at best loiter mid table but at worst could go further down the league. So anyone looking at the Championship with misty, nostalgic eyes.....good luck to you, it’s definitely not for me.

I see this quoted quite often. Unemployment for Stoke on Trent is currently the lowest since 2006, when we were in the Championship and Tony Pulis returned as manager

It would be a crushing blow to North Staffordshire, it's the only thing between the area and complete oblivion. And on a personal note it would leave me utterly crest-fallen.

Of course there is a broader financial picture to the impoverishment of North Staffordshire... And ironically, the Premier League is a fine example of the financial institutions and philosophies that are ultimately responsible. They have us all by the balls.

Not if we win all the others! We cant score goals let alone win. We’re actually not THAT bad at scoring goals. There are FIVE other teams who have scored less than us and if we’d have converted our penalties a lot more than that.

We lose to everton at home and it is bye bye Assuming Man City beat us as expected then Everton is looking like a must win game really because if we fail to win there then we're really starting to run out of games to get the 10-12 points we're likely to need. Fail to beat Everton, even a draw, and I think we're gone unless we get incredibly lucky with the results elsewhere.

What’s pissing me off lately is 18 year old lads walking around singing when stoke go down we all go down..... well fuck off. That song was around when we bloody well were doomed and down and out. We’re still in a chance of staying up and it’s in our hands. We win our home games were safe. Monday night that roof should be lifted off. Them citeh players know they’ve won the league and will be thinking of the World Cup. Hit them hard early on and let’s see if they fancy it. It’s time the bearpit roar came back. Come on stoke. Piss that championship shit off

Depends what happens when we go down, if we do well it can rejuvenate the support, but if we go the way of Sunderland, it may get toxic.

Lamberts 2nd and 3rd games brought it home to me dramatically, there isn't going to be a rescue, no one is going to emerge as a hero. The only way we could survive is a huge slice of luck and a miracle 3 points against one of the big boys.

I am a supporter of over 50 years and have seen it all, Read more: oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/thread/277553/championship#ixzz596VeEsXmIf that's true and I don't doubt it then why did you not expect us to get into the premiership. Our 70's team would make Europe every year and sit top 10 comfortably. The team we had under Lou was better than this lot. If /(when) we go down there is no roof blowing off to blame, no lack of funds. Just a clear lack of ambition coupled with appalling back room staff including the players and manager. Comfy club for players who just wanted a good wage without having to train too hard is what we were and had a manager and coaching staff who facilitated that attitude. Every time I see a match on the TV BET365 banners are all around the ground , no matter where it is. The investment for that must have been MASSIVE. It makes me bloody fume that they care so little about our club in comparison yet CLAIM to love the club.....well the saying goes. "You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time" CLEAR message sent to me by Peter Coates that he does not want to spend the required amount of money to stay in the premmiership, which is fine but don't go saying you love the club when everything says you only love money.

United's big comeback on Monday was massive to our hopes.
