I’m looking forward to it. It’s going to be a cleansing of the club from top to bottom including the hangers on premier league plastic fans who will dig out their old pre 2008 Man U tops, or newly purchased Man City ones, and leave us genuine Potters to support the club when it needs us the most again. It will be interesting to see who suddenly stops posting on here as well once we do go down, which we almost certainly will. 1) the cleansing won't happen where it needs to. 2) losing fans is absolutely shite

Stoke have been a top half championship, and a Premier League team for the majority of my football supporting life, I don’t want a return to the worst league in world football.
It’s fucking wank, I’m surprised it’s not been made into a trap in a SAW movie yet, because once you’re in there it’s impossible to escape.
Wank players, wank football, wank fixtures, wank teams, wank grounds, wank exposure, it’s just wank.

The problem is the Championship is just as much a grind, i can't see us wanting to compete with those willing to spend down there, I don't think it'll be any better, just a few more shockingly boring games. We've got Fletcher, Adam and Afellay contracted for another year. None are what you need in Championship. And the rest, we'll lose our only real attacking threat too and get stuck with an overhaul we should have done seasons ago.

That’s not dick measuring either that’s just how I see it. Well I’m giving up after 35 years. Hardly fair weather. I’ve done my share of trips to Brentford on a cold wet Tuesday night. Not doing it again, the younger generation can do that next season. I’m out. It’s not just that, it’s a corrupt game now and I simply cannot continue to support a game that pays its players such obscene amounts then tolerates it when they just can’t be arsed - such as our lot at the moment. On top of THAT, our own club don’t give two hoots about us fans and don’t deserve our money. Then there’s people like me being endlessly called “knicker wetters” by many on here for pointing out it was all going wrong two seasons ago. How does that sound now eh? Just sick of the whole thing now. So this is my final season as a football fan.

I hear what and understand what you are saying but do feel that it is a little unfair to our newer supporters Surely anybody who has supported SCFC in recent years can not be described as plastic hanger on glory hunters. If those sought of people egsisted they would have given up some years ago considering what we have had to watch and how we are unfashionably conceived by the media and the football snobs of this world. Yes we may have gained some new fans as a result of our Premier Lge experience, but let us embrace them and hope that they remain supporters as we did in our early years of being regular supporters regardless of success.

There will be more to look forward to next season. We knew this year would be shit. Next year might be worse, there's a good chance it will be better. I'd take a top 6 championship finish over this shit any day. What makes you think we'd do that well? Because we are currently averaging a point a game (ish) in the Prem which is a comparable level is it not?

Any young fan who had grown up over the last decade and seen us in the top flight has been very lucky. I too hope they remain loyal fans but their loyalty is about to be tested.

It’s not what’s going on now that bothers me, wait til next season when we are in the same relegation danger, only in the Championship. See also, Sunderland. I’m simply not up for it any more. That and the corrupt state of football, I’ve just had enough.

902 passes in a single match is a Premier League record, according to Opta Stats.
Boring when Man City do it but the best football ever seen when Pep's Barcelona or Brazil of the 70's ??

You're actually salivating at the thought of us losing fans and being relegated. It's just weird. You are wrong. I would be very sad at seeing us drop out of the Premier League. I’m just long enough in the tooth to realise that we were (along with another 20 odd clubs) only ever tenants in the big league. Football runs in cycles and we have had a decent run. Times almost up, but we will come back at some stage.

Snag is, it's like listening to old farts ramble on about the good old days. Once you've had a taste (especially 10 years) and then drop down, it's never quite the same again? The Premier League is a bit shit now - the big boys are strangling the life out of it. But the Championship is a grim slog and there's nothing to say we won't drop like a stone into Division One. I've been reminding myself lately ( in readiness) of those ding dong battles against the likes of Cardiff and Leeds. I did enjoy them more than what we have now. Really trying hard to remember the last time I came away from a game with that proper, uplifting buzz? It must have been when we had the likes of Arnie, Shaqiri and Bojan all in their pomp? Don't know what to hope for anymore - certainly don't want to go through the motions just existing in the Prem, but all the other alternatives are crap too?

My thoughts on the Premier League and that match aren't designed to salve our imminent exit from it. I'm desperate to stay up. I'm just stunned that Chelsea turned up and did that today and more stunned that television companies from around the world are prepared to pay Billions to show it. It was a pathetic surrender and holds the league in disrepute. Barca versus Athletico Madrid, on the other hand/channel, was a great game. Chelsea should be ashamed of themselves.
