Underwhelming! I hope no one has booked time off for the knock out rounds! Probably will look a bit better with Kane and maybe Lallana in, come the World Cup. And they still should be able to beat Panama and Tunisia to get out of the groups and into the last 16, you'd hope. And then they'll have a 50-50 game against one of Poland/Colombia/Senegal to get to the Quarter-Final. If they manage that, they've done okay. That side just looks so underwhelming on both the individual level and in terms of experience. Plus you can bet 4 or 5 of those names won't be in the starting XI by the time the tournament comes around. Some guy on the latest Totally Football podcast (Matt someone or other) was saying he thought it was our best side for 30 years and that England at 20/1 are a good bet. Absolutely laughable.

It’s a better group than we’ve had for possibly 10 years or so but he’s mental to suggest it’s better than any of the squads we had from 98-06. It’s not even in the same stratosphere.

If we put Rashford central and Alli out on the left, what is the point in that? Rashford will always drift out left anyway and Alli is a central player but not really a striker. It makes no sense. Young is not the best defender either, in fact he is not a good defender at all for me, and we will probably be "got at" down that left side if he goes with Alli-Young. Maybe he thinks Gomez has enough about him to protect Young a bit but I dunno. Seems dodgy. I feel like we are back to shoehorning players again. It's more of a 3-4-2-1, though, isn't it? With Sterling and Alli playing as inside-forward-types tucked in behind - with the wing-backs theoretically providing most of the width? Ashley Young really has come from nowhere and is being talked up as a possible starter in the World Cup now, with Danny Rose's lack of action at Spurs. Although I really don't rate Bertrand at all, so I'd be in favour of Young and Rose being the two to go

If you watch Ashley Young closely you'll find he's actually a good defender.. I know, it's surprising but he doesn't make many mistakes.

We will probably see it against Holland straight away, the problem is when the ball is coming the other way. You cannot carry your 3 forwards tbh. We will get caught out with Young playing against any wingers that can run at him from the outside (his weaker side) but yeah. That is just my opinion.

Bollocks to the world cup, bollocks to cheating, corruption, VAR - a new way to fuck over England.
I'm not watching a minute of the next two world cups

Probe into Russian racism? It's too late now. Self serving pricks. They ran those campaigns then when voting came delegates were specifically instructed not to be influenced by the topic of racism. Probe my arse. That's not a request by the way.

The Switzerland tossers go on about being inclusive and football being for everyone then the world cup goes to a place where homosexual people are shamelessly attacked in the streets. And they don't seem to have been confronted about it.

Delle Alli on form is dynamic and inventive. BUT can we be sure he'd deliver at this level? I'm still surprised Lingaard isn't mentioned more.

Delle Alli will be shown up at the World Cup along with the rest of them. He’ll be marked out of the game by the first decent team, get frustrated and end up sent off. He’s a petulant little prick.

Mmmm. You might have a point I’m looking forward to seeing how Kane does. For me he is a genuine world class player & seems to have a great temperament. I just can’t see him getting the service he gets at Spurs. Hopefully Southgate doesn’t have him on the wing or taking corners like the owl faced pillock in 2016.

Too many teams and watered down quality.
24 is enough.

Too many teams and watered down quality. 24 is enough. To avoid having groups of three or the farce of third placed qualifiers in groups of four needs to be either 16, my preference, or 32. The issue is the other continents want representation closer to the European level and UEFA is never going to give up any of it's slots we are doomed to a bloated and pointless competition until the quater finals.

Wonder who that opens the door to potentially?
