I think very very best we can hope for is:
Grant Edwards Shawcross Indi Tymon Adam New CM New RM Bojan Ramadan New st/Berahino
We're definitely losing: Butland, Shaq, Allen, Badou, Pieters, Cameron, Choupo, Bauer, Diouf.
Likely add Wimmer, Fletcher, Crouch, Afellay, Bojan, Indi, Ramadan to that, but we might be able to persuade a couple of those to stay if we're lucky.

I’d like to think the 2 new lads will give us a season if we dropped. I’d go with
.......................New GK................... Bauer........Ryan........Indi..........Eric ................Badou.......New CM........ Ramadan..........Bojan..........New W ....................New Centre F..............
Bench Wimmer Berahino Campbell Diouf Cameron Fletcher (god help us) Edwards Tymon Imbula
I think only Shaq, Butland and Allen will defo go. It’s up to the board to keep our best players to stay. I’d imagine we’ll loan Imbula.

Grant will probably be given a chance to start too Badou hopefully too, but he could well have negotiated a clause with this in mind given when he joined. Cameron? Possibly, although he'll be 33 and could fancy a season or two in MLS. It'd be time to say goodbye to Adam and Fletcher. Probably Ireland too, although not really sure why he's been exiled after his promising game at Man Utd. Tymon wouldn't be up to it. God only knows with Wimmer. The whole thing is crazy. Diouf wouldn't get the goals needed to fire a promotion challenge but could be useful off the bench along with Crouch. Bojan? Not sure it'd be the best move for him or us, although with 2 years left on 60k, it's hard to see him joining anyone else. Same with Imbula with 4 years left on £3.5m-a-year. Berahino is a dead loss and won't be of any use at any level.

If we get relegated -
Grant Bauer, Shawcross, Indi, Pieters Cameron, Ndiaye Choupo, Adam, Ramadan/New winger? Berahino/Campbell
I think the only ones will be going will be Zouma (loan ends), Jese (loan ends) Shaq (return to Europe after World Cup), Allen (to keep his welsh caps alive however I think he may actually stay for one season), Butland (top 6 club, especially after World Cup, even if we stay up), Crouch (retired or other low to mid Premier League club), Bojan (spain), Muniesa (spain) Ireland (end of contract), Diouf (may stay but likely to go to Europe).
I think Ramadan is another possibility to leave only if he has a good World Cup and unless Badou or Bauer have a release clause, then they have not been here long enough for other teams to look at them yet - perhaps during next season if we are floundering or a good world cup for Badou may change that.

Afellay's got a year left too. Blimey, that extension looks rushed and ill-judged in hindsight.
But think we can safely say he wouldn't be featuring in the Championship for us.

Butland and shaqiri would go. We will get 50 million plus for those two.
Spend twenty mill of it on a striker and hard as nails defensive midfielder.
Grant
Bauer shawcross Bruno Pieters
Allen. NewCm? Ndiaye
Diouf NEwCf Choupo
It wouldn't take much ambition for us top have easily the strongest squad in that division. I know its tough down there with a lot of games but we should bounce straight back

I'd like to think we would keep ndiaye . Contract negotiations would have mentioned the likelihood of if we get relegated, same as Bauer. Stoke have to be firm with such players and you would hope the parachute payments would secure the wage structure of the players

Stoke have to be firm with such players and you would hope the parachute payments would secure the wage structure of the players Could work either way the threat of relegation was clear when they joined. If we were very desperate to get them and they were in demand they may have negotiated to be released for reduced fees if we get relegated. On the other hand we should have been aware enough of our predicament to insist upon reduced wages in the event of relegation.

A back five of Grant/Bauer/Shawcross/BMI/Pieters, with Badou and Ramadan in front of them would be a bloody good base to start with, with us probably needing 4 new key first team players. You would think the sales of Butland/Shaqiri/Allen/Choupo would net us something in the region of £80-90 million, so there's no reason for us to be short of funds in the transfer market. The issue is obviously going to be who the manager is and who is going to be responsible for recruitment. What we do about Berahino, Bojan, Imbula and Wimmer, I have absolutely no idea.

My only Question - when you look at teams a year on from their drop, haven't they changed more radically than some have posted above? This list feels like the right number going. Would just think about the economics that we need to trim 40m off our 90m wage bill (as we head to the levels of Derby 26m and Leeds 18m over the parachute payment period - Villa are an anomaly and in trouble, if they don't make it up this year). It stops being about what players are worth and just the existential need to get rid! So I'd be potentially considering releasing a few to save £5m-£10m on each over the term of the rest of their contracts. While this sounds negative, it clears the slate for rebuilding more quickly - the deadwood, financial millstones and stench of past mistakes gone. Get 60m for Butland, Shaq and Allen - and get rid of Beharinho, Imbula, Wimmer (perhaps) and Fletcher. We might then we able to invest some back in a proven operators at this level; add a couple of starlets on loan and make up the squad with useful injury-free, non mentally-impaired, two-legged freebies. I'd also sell Sobhi reluctantly - he's good, but he's here at the wrong time and will be hacked to bits next year. So, I'm going radical - "Operation Bounce." 442 Grant Bauer ShawX Lees Pieters Adomah N Diaye Luongo ECM Diouf Gayle Subs: Edwards, Cameron, Campbell, Tymon, Gap1 (CM), Gap2 (GK), Crouch, Outs: Shaq (Roma, 20m), Butland (Livp 22m), Allen (Swansea 15m), Imbula (effectively free to Torino- fee used to sub his wage drop), Fletcher (retired/medical grounds), BMI (Nice, 7m), Adam (Rangers, eoc free), Wimmer (loan to Hamburg), Sobhi (Monaco, 10m+add ons), Beharinho (Celtic, loan to buy), Bojan (Celtic, 1m). TOTAL = £75m Ins: Dwight Gayle (8m), Lees (SW 4m), Loungo (QPR 6m), Adomah (Villa, 3m), Loanee 1=CM=Foden, Diaz, Winks, Loanee 2: Danny Ward. Any opportunistic and semi-useful freebies too: e.g. Yacob (WBA), Arfield (Burnley) - TOTAL = £20m www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier-league/endendevertraege/wettbewerb/GB1/jahr/2018/plus/1/page/3Yes, i know its BS btw :-)
