The way we are at the moment I can see us drifting further than The Championship. At least it will be easier to get away.

Why could everyone see it in the summer bar Coates?
When we go down the transfer team need sacking for starters.

I think because you could see it was happening in the summer I’ve been prepared and so strangely enough, I kind of am.
An opinion not shared by many on here I’m sure.

Doesn't really matter what division we're in, we never win anything anyway.
Ten seasons in the PL during which Swansea, Wigan, Blues all managed a pot.
Would be nice but I guess the best we can hope for is a promotion from time to time, then the very rare thrashing of a quality side (Arsenal 5-0; Liverpool 6-1) and that's about it.
Makes you wonder why you bother really!

If you support Stoke, you will mainly see them play in either of the top two leagues, unless we are really shit and you get a few seasons in the third tier.

And there's nothing attractive about the premier league football we've been watching for the last two years either. Indeed there isn’t but the entire point of being in the Championship is getting back to repeat the whole experience all over again!! And that's the only downside to being relegated in my opinion but at least you get the chance of experiencing some glory again.

I sense an air of acceptance of the inevitable
Hughes should of gone a season and a half ago
The Board have tried to run a cut price show and paid the consequences
All spilt milk
Unable to buy a win
At least we'll have something to aim for in the Championship i.e. promotion
We've become complacent and insatiable with Premier League mediocrity
A season down may well temper that, though there is the possibility we remain Championship fodder
The highs, lows and mehs of being a football fan
Sigh 😌

I didn't get where I am today by rambling but here goes.
Add more to these or even take some away or maybe throw rotten fruit at me, i don't mind, it's good for the skin.
Premier League Negatives
Superstar Referees - It's worrying how i know from a distance the name of the referee and also know he's a prat. They have bad officials in lower leagues but at least they're not superstars.
Excessive feigning of injuries and basically cheating, again it's all over the place but this division is disgraceful.
Over-hyped crap. Yeah.
Managers saying things like "Can we have a winter break please?" and "Stop having the temerity to tackle our players, we need protecting" - Basically managers trying to rewrite the laws on English football to suit themselves and their "top" club - It will still happen but we're not in the league that they're trying to sanitize.
The worrying gulf between the top 6 and the rest of the league. The quality difference has recently become so huge that what we have is a super league of 6 and the rest could interchange with the Championship and no one would be any the wiser. Basically, it's an incredibly uneven playing field which is frustrating as hell and the standard of football currently when we're not playing one of the top 6 is the exact same standard we'd get in the second tier anyway.
Not going anywhere. Where can you go? Like, where? You can't get into the top 6, so you're trying to get into the top 8 which is an odd goal to have. Being content with being 11th is somehow unsatisfying. It's just a flawed league in that respect.
Kick-off's constantly being changed all the time to suit television.
Premier League Positives
Attracting better players, in many cases bigger name players with recent good pedigree in the game. Good pedigree? Good old John Marston, a great Victorian bloke.
Playing against the top teams, which is still an attraction but because of our decline and also the gulf that's grown between the top and where we are, it's not that actually fun getting mullered 4 or 5 nil every time we play one of these "top" sides. So i guess what you lose on the swings you gain on the roundabouts.
You also do get to see the very best in world football which is nice, i guess. I saw Ronaldo at Stoke. No, seriously.
Higher attendances, we're very near capacity very regularly which can only be a positive. Unless you have a fear of public people.
Nationwide and global exposure which i guess is more important to the club itself than the supporters but in the sense that we can attract more supporters and have that pride of supporting a club who are mixing it at the top level are both positives that the supporters can enjoy.
This one is actually slightly controversial maybe but important to exiles, supporters overseas and generally folk who can't get to away and indeed home games. All our games in the Premier League are available live online via streaming and are broadcast live on television in other countries as they happen. That gravy train ends if we go down.
Championship Positives
A more even playing field, very obvious but that division doesn't have an elite group of clubs constantly pulling away from the pack. So if we went down these less "Oh no, it's them, 0-5 is my prediction" and such like. Perhaps.
You could argue that you get more football, because you do. Especially at the start of a season, it's very Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday. Also more normal kick-off times and less moving of matches to suit television companies and not the actual fans. It feels more real somehow but maybe that's a bad thing.
You have a goal or a carrot if you like, unlike in the Premier League where you're striving to be.... 8th or 17th or anywhere in between. Exciting. Ahem. That's the thing with being in the lower leagues, you can aim for automatic, in and out of those positions, or the play-offs! The play-off places, get in them and then all the drama and heartache that accompanies them.
It's all about the quest, to get to a higher level. It's what keeps folk going, keep your feet on the floor and reach for the stars. In the Premier League with it's fundamentally flawed nature, the highest level you're reaching for is 7th. That's where all the Gold in the world lies! Blimey. What fun, eh? Can you imagine though? The pride of being 7th! Oh sweet Lord, it's what dreams are made of. Generations to come will hear about it years down the line. "That season, we finished 7th!" "NO WAY!" "Yes fuckin' way, my lad! We dared to dream."

If we stay up what then? Utter humiliation, just like after we saved our skins in '84? Wolves will spend money and push on, Villa will be fine if they come up and the clubs in our bracket will probably outspend us too.

This sort of inverted snobbery about lower league football doesn’t really cut it. If you feel that way about football go and watch the local non league side and get the full experience. There is nothing attractive about Championship football. There is if you play in league one

For us overseas Stokies, the Championship means we are able to watch significantly less live games and are stuck with radio commentary most weeks.
As a team that is "better watched on ceefax" (kids, ask your dad) these days, some might say that is no bad thing.
I am gutted our Premier League journey may well end at 10 years and worry about how long it will take us to get back to the top table again.

I’ve seen us in the lower leagues before both at the bet 365 and the vic. I’ve got admit I walked in the house tonight and said I’m not sure I can be arsed with this anymore. As it stands I won’t renew to watch shit championship football. Perhaps the premiership has spoilt me. The thought of watching Barnsley Cardiff forest etc etc on a cold wet night does not reall appeal to me

As it stands I won’t renew to watch shit championship football. Perhaps the premiership has spoilt me. The thought of watching Barnsley Cardiff forest etc etc on a cold wet night does not reall appeal to me I agree. I'm just too old for it. I'm sick of football generally, I only stuck with the game at all because "it's Stoke", but I'm not interested in the Championship, sorry. It's worse when you don't live in the area any more, as every game becomes an away game in terms of effort and cost. Done that before in the Championship, not doing it again. I fully accept that one cannot claim to be a fan of a football club yet refuse to attend games, and it's not as if I even have any interest in following it "from afar" so to speak. Accordingly, I accept that I am no longer a Stoke fan. It's not like there'll be another club, I'm not a glory hunter. I'm just done with football now. This past couple of years have just sucked the life out of it for me.

I'm at the point where I think this season will be my last as a season ticket holder no matter what division we are playing in. I will still pick and choose home and away games but just go when I really fancy going. I'll never stop looking out for our results and never stop thinking about how we are getting on from 3 o'clock onwards on a Saturday afternoon but football in general and the matchday experience just doesn't do it for me like it used to do.
A lot of it is down to my age I think, and the fact that the game was/has never been the main part of the day for me, well not since I've been in my late teens/adult years. It was more about the social side and the drinking with the lads, the all day piss ups and laughs had stood on the terraces, but as those days have gone, and due to us all getting older and having different commitments, the football becomes more prevalent in the whole experience and I guess I just don't love the game that much where I'm willing to keep spending money and time watching a sport I don't feel the love for anymore.

No.
The championship is a bottomless cesspit of shit.
And as much as Premier League players are overpaid, Championship players are hardly earning pennies.
Finally I don't trust the transfer team to sign the players to get us fighting at the right end of the table.
Mid table mediocrity awaits.
At least in the Premier League coming mid table actually has some semblance of meaning and there is a hint of success about it.
