Today is lamberts mess. He chose to ignore the fact that players were hanging out of there arses. At 1 up and cruising, desperate for points you manage the situation! You earn your money and make sure we get at the very least a point! Today is not Lamberts mess, as a previously well run established premier league outfit..... we should not be in a position at this time of the season where by we are in the relegation zone hanging on to survival by our finger nails, we should not be in a position of needing an away win at fellow dog shit outfit Bournemouth to try and pull us out of this rancid mess, if we are the team we all thought we were we would be at least mid 30s point wise with a couple of games to cement our division status going in to the final 10 games trying to achieve a decent league position. By all means analyse the game and performance and observe where we went wrong, but overall we are where we are because we deserve to be where we are due to our shit league campaign, and in all fairness to Lambert his points tally in his first two games is nearly 20% (a fifth) its actually 17% of our season tally...two games a win and a draw, its that fucking bad

For me... 1) its not his mess 2) he has correctly indentified the problems... To slow To put a tackle in, lack intensity, dont defend as a team, dont defend set pieces
3) indentifying the problem is one thing, doing something about it is another
Imo, we have been a bit quicker To put a tackle in, a bit sharper, looked slightly more organised. Our defending of bournemouths set piece was ' totally unacceptable ' according To himself
Unlike moyes and hodgson he hasnt been given the time To sort the mess out, so we are winging it big time
He's made slight improvements here and there. Good luck To him He will need it.

He deserves our full backing and support for (yes, I know he is being well paid for it) accepting the challenge. Other people looked at (choose an option you like) misfiring team .... sinking ship ... pile of shite .... risk to their reputation etc. and said 'No'.
He obviously saw something that made him think I can fix this .... or ... what the hell is MH doing?
He has added players ... not easy to do for teams in our position (Stoke isn't an easy sell at the best of times). We, by all accounts look better (for periods of games anyway). We beat Huddlesfield (tick), we drew with Watford (ok all things considered) and we've lost away at Bournemouth (annoying because we looked like we would get at least a draw). I got very good odds on us winning with both teams scoring so the last result wasn't a surprise to the bookies.
He still has time to save us.

I do feel for lambert as heβs had to pick up the shit left behind, however heβs got to do the basics himself and yesterday he didnβt

One defeat out of three and that was against a team that has a good home record and had just thrashed Chelsea 3-0 and all sense of perspective goes out of the window. You couldn't make this sort of stuff up if you were the best scriptwriter in the world. Nobody would believe that so many people could be glass half empty folk.
Lambert has been here for less than three weeks. He's won his first game 2-0, got a draw from a game where the opposition came simply to spoil the game from the off, and then just three days later after that slog of a match, we run out of steam because Hughes couldn't be arsed with fitness. So his record is won one, drawn one, and lost one. Goals for = 2. Goals against = 2. Points 4. So, if he only continues that 'rubbish' for the remaining games, that would see us with another 16 points.
Yes, you're entitled to your opinions about subs etc, but we haven't got a striker worthy of the name at the club. So Lambert had a choice to make: play a centre forward in Diouf who had a stinker on Wednesday or put Crouch up front. In the first half Crouchy did his job. Then he waned. He wasn't the only one. Those around him also ran out of steam. They were knackered. That's not Lambert's fault. No way can he get them fit in just over a couple of weeks.
And then there's a glass half empty stuff again regarding relegation. Let's assume The Baggies are doomed after their defeat yesterday, that leaves nine teams with just three points between them battling to stay up. Based on Lambert's first game in charge we should do it no probs. Based on his second game we might just manage to battle it out. Based solely on yesterday's game we are down. But that would be no different than saying Man City won't win the league because they can only draw with Burnley.
So I'm a glass half full bloke until relegation is certain. We've signed a great right back, which has improved the team; another left back who looks good enough to get in the side or at least put pressure on Pieters to continue his good run of form; The Peperami Kid who looks a bit of an animal with pace and should do well in midfield if he doesn't get sent off too often, and we should soon have Bruno back to bolster the back line.
That's my twopennyworth.
OS.

They were pathetic second half and to not create one moment of note in the 16 minutes after they went two one up was indefensible for a team in our position. Its certainly not Lambert's fault but these players are not built for a relegation scrap and that's my glass completely drained view!

Lambert is a decent bloke but he really doesn't do himself any favours by making the same mistakes time after time, his use of substitutes has clearly not improved since his time with us, I lost count of the amount of points we threw away from winning/drawing positions, his interviews have remained as shocking as ever "I don't know how we lost", no doubt the "we go again" comment is primed and ready

Compare the players' performance yesterday against the one against Huddersfield. We may not be very good as a collective yet, but there was nothing wrong with the effort and substitutions in that game. I see a group of players that are so unfit that they can't play on a Wednesday and the following Saturday. That's what Lambert has to work on in the short time he's been given to turn this club around. He's got them all in today. That's a start. And then he has to learn from his own mistakes. He's probably as baffled as we are why the players' heads went down after they scored, and no doubt he'll be thinking today that he got his subtitutions wrong. I wouldn't like his job considering what Hughes has left him with... a group of players where half of them can't be arsed to give 100% concentration and effort for 100% of the time. But I reckon that midweek game against Watford took its toll big time. That's Hughes's legacy. But I think he can do it. Well, I'm hoping he can. OS.

Yeah, just think though.....if we had not been a complete basket case of a club by allowing a complete bunch of no hopes knock us out of the fa cup we would have had to play 3 games in 8 days and then we would have been well and truly royally fucked, We have become a disgrace of a club from the one that was being run so well, unfortunately when we gave Hughes the elbow we decided to let the other shower of shit that helped to put us in this position keep there well paid jobs,

I have to agree with the OP that this crock of shit has nothing to do with Lambert. However I have to question the wisdom of our Board a man who was deemed not good enough to manage Wolves less than a year ago. I canβt think of any other profession where one gets rewarded and promoted for failure.

Not so concerned about Lambert. Subs were late but to be fair the game was already turning after 35 minutes. These guys should be able to run around for 90 minutes and if not, then use their brains and pass it around a bit or waste time by running it into corners etc.
Also can't be easy having a bunch of strikers that will be lucky to get to 15 goals a season between them. If we had better we could maybe have bagged a 2nd while we were on top.
Lambert probably had no confidence in what we had on the bench and I don't blame him.
Anyway, we need to reset and start again. The defence has improved but in terms of creating chances we're still dogshit. Shaq-Choupo-Strikers need to do more.

Badou going off didn't help us, but expecting our brand new signing to play 90 minutes and control the midfield was optimistic to say the least. He did really well and looks a good un but our dearth of midfield options means we lose momentum and energy, thus giving the initiative to the opposition. This and not taking off our 37 year old striker and bringing on fresher legs with more pace to give them something new to worry about. We're a Shaqiri injury away from crisis. Does Jese really exist by the way?

Lambert does have history for survival. Clearly remember us getting stuffed 3 1 at home by Villa in Pulis' last season, which got Villa out of the bottom 3 (they were in and out of it since January) and a goal difference of - 26 in January and 24 points from 26 games. All very similar to us now. One win since Christmas and I was personally convinced we were going down. On a bright note history no shows my prognosis was incorrect and Villa stayed up as well.

Does Jese really exist by the way? Indeed he does and he put some proper effort in whilst slumming it with the kiddies last night, apparently - which, for the man who was the next coming of the messiah at Real only a few short years ago, shows a fair degree of determination to get his fitness up and win a place back in the team. I'd reward him with a bench spot on Saturday, as well as our teenage prodigy. Saido can "do one". As for Lambert, he is learning about his squad on the job in the harsh glare of a relegation battle. First week, he worked out Wimmer is no use. Second week, he dropped Adam and Fletcher. Hopefully, a few more lessons have been learned after the Bournemouth defeat.
