People on here pointing fingers at Lambert need give their heads a good old wobble, this steaming great pile of dog shit is nothing to do with him it was the previous incumbent of the post and the Stoke City board of directors that got us here, any one with a nose on his face new that we were in trouble last season and the previous league finish papered over the cracks, the board only had to look at the empty seats for the lap of dishonour to see the supporters apathy and should have pulled the trigger sooner.
Even the happy clapping rose tinted tossers that stalk this board shouted down anyone who dared suggest that this season was going to be a long old struggle with a good chance of relegation, he should have walked after man city but no, people made excuses and accepted a 7 goal mauling because City were on fire, we made a shit west ham look like Brazil and let a useless looking Newcastle outfit do the double over us.
Nah Lambert was third choice for a reason but if we stay up and he has worked a miracle, if we go down and he has done his best with a dog shit squad, needing 5 wins from 15 games was not looking too hard with the new additions, 5 wins from 14 was starting to look a little stretching, 5 from 13 is now really starting to worry me, a win against Watford and a draw today would have eased us a little but the ropes burning and it is burning fast, it will not be long before we fall unless we have a major upturn in results or 3 teams go in to freefall to be worse than us

But who can pull the trigger on the board which is where the real problem is.
No one can blame Lambert , he's a cheap option in a desperate gamble and I'm sure he'll give what he has. However even he was surprised at getting the job which kind of says it all really.
I hope he pulls it off and I hope he gets the backing he really needs in the summer to stop another season of begging for a win.
But I have lost any faith in our owners who yet again in this window have said "We don't give a flying f**k about Stoke City or it's fans".

Whilst I hope for the miracle I think it unlikely - if we do go then it won't be Lamberts fault and he'll be well placed to navigate the stormy seas of the championship - this has been a slow death of a thousand cuts over the past two years and chickens have come home to roost - Coates has used the cloak of "loyalty" to cover his and the boards abject "what's all the fuss about" complacency - even up to Christmas they were still dithering like a puppy's dick - hopeless and solely to blame in keeping Hughes on beyond May last year when it was clear he'd lost the plot. A real shame that a multi-billionaire and a company generating eye watering profits have never really gone the whole nine yards to take those bold decisions that sometimes have to be made from time to time - unfortunately the ship of change has sailed and we are on a wing and a prayer.

I'm sure PL will be here next season unless we lose the majority of the games we have left and finish bottom by a country mile, I don't see that happening though. We may get relegated but it'll be close and I don't think the blame will lie with PL, more the boards reluctance to sack Hughes when it was clear he had lost the plot, and the boards reluctance to adequately address our needs in the previous few transfer windows. This forum is always as depressing as it gets whenever we lose, win next time around (which we are certainly capable of) and it'll be a completely different atmosphere on here. |

The board are to blame. They thought they'd cracked staying up on a relative shoestring. The writing was on the wall last season and yet they chose the cheap option of sticking with Mark Hughes. He tried to recruit but I assume we wouldn't pay enough. They looked vindicated by results v arsenal and man u but dithered when the writing was on the wall.

He obviously spun a yarn or two to convince the cretins in charge to consider him and is now fumbling around for a plan of action. Said it before this is a sideways move by the club who still want to continue with this self-sufficiency model that is crippling the club. PL must have subscribed to this model or he wouldn't be in the position.
