The competition is dead on its feet. It's really sad.
Ok great Wigan beat WHU, but look at the side the Hammers sent out, like a line up for a Checkatrade Trophy game
Used to be such a great competition.
Arnie etc not even on the bench.
12,000 at Huddersfield for a game with a chance to get through to the 5th Round, its not like Birmingham is a million miles away!
In 71 when we played Tranmere at home in the 4th replay in our FA Cup semi season on a Weds night we over 35,000
I think this competition will get scrapped soon. It's probably better if it does.

True, hardly any fuss when a league 2 side beat a PL team in the last round.

True, hardly any fuss when a league 2 side beat a PL team in the last round. This is at the heart of it really. There was no fuss because it didn’t involve a top 6 team. And that’s all the media are interested in, not the FA Cup itself, just those top 6. Even the FA Cup is really just about those media Premier League darlings. Then again, being the said Premier League team that got ditched by a League 2 side probably hasn’t enhanced our interest in the competition greatly.

Absolutely agree mate. I'd love us to win the F.A cup, as would anyone, but for a number of the PL clubs now (middling and now even the likes of Arsenal) there seems to be little enthusiasm for it. Disappointing really. Wenger got his just desserts against Forest given the team he selected, I was desperate for Leicester & West Ham to go out last time given their half arsed selection and performances against Fleetwood and Shrewsbury. Moyes even said as much today that his focus is elsewhere. As a kid I always seem to remember the old "magic of the FA Cup" thing (oh, and for us against Cov the other week!); now it just seems it's all eyes on the PL for those outside the top 6, with most teams fielding weaker teams.

Apparently you only get 1.8 million for winning it so there's your answer!

You say all that, but look at the list of winners since Wimbledon won the Cup in 1988. You can count the number of clubs outside the established top five or six clubs who've lifted the trophy on the fingers of one hand, and probably still have a couple spare.

Apparently you only get 1.8 million for winning it so there's your answer! This. Isn't the money for each additional league place close to that or maybe even more? The FA Cup is a beautiful competition. I find it infinitely more interesting than the Champions League.

A Newport County win over “mighty” Spurs would make our defeat at Coventry seem not half as bad. Even after 68 minutes doubt that it will happen though!

At least Dicko and his veteran Notts County team mates have got their names into the hat for the next round, after forcing a draw with Swansea. Alan Smith came on for County in the 90th minute, didn't realise he was even still alive
