Too many Prem fans would rather finish 17th than win the Cup. The importance of the FA Cup has been diluted by the power of the Premier League. Think most Stokies wouldn't swap Premier League status for FA Cup winners ... Or would They??

What has also happened is it takes four pissing days to play a round The fa cup was interesting when all the teams played sat afternoon Bang on the money...coupled with the fact it's now on some obscure TV channels across the weekend. The FA took the money from TV and fucked the competition right up. Games on Saturday and a Sunday afternoon game on the BBC were perfect but someone got greedy and now it's shite.... Add it to the same list as Test cricket and Formula 1

Another thing that would help return the glory for the FA Cup would be only one Champions League place for the Premiership
Then winning the Cup would become more special, and teams wouldn't prioritise finishing 4th
I know it will never happen but 4 places in the Premiership for Champions League has been awful for the game.

Whatever else it might be the fa cup is brilliant and exposing the money and hype of the premier league as, err... Money and hype
Are premier league stoke city really better footballers than wolves, bristol city or coventry??
In a word... No
Also huge thanks to coventry city and the fa cup for making the board of stoke city wake up and smell the coffee
Hopefully, just before, Its too late?

I do it all the time.

I am happy to go back to 3 oclock kick offs on a saturday
And the fa cup final And the world cup finals being the only televised games
And so is everyone I know
Apparently the only reason they dont do that is money

All Stoke's match should kick off a 3 which is 9 AM over here, so I can sleep in instead of getting up at 5:30. Have lunch and play 18 holes of golf in the afternoon. And still got the evening for whatever! That's a hell of a day.

To be honest it's a disgrace to English football how a competition with the history, tradition and glamour of the FA Cup has become such a non-event. A few of us can still remember switching on the Tele at about 11 o'clock in the morning of cup final day and being transfixed for seven hours.

The FA cup is alive and well. We put out as strong a side as we could today considering injuries and the fact we’re in a relegation battle. Anyone who thinks we rested Lanzini, Carroll & Arnie are obviously on a different planet as it was well publicised that they are out for a fed weeks with injury. Quite embarrassed today but we’ll done Wigan. I really wanted us to progress as we’ve only won the FAcup 3 times in our entire history, but I still love the FA cup.

Had you even heard of half the players you played today though? About 4 of them looked like they were 12.

Apparently you only get 1.8 million for winning it so there's your answer! Then the answer is give it to Sky and let them generate cash for it. It's desperate but it needs something soon or it's gone.

I love the idea of the PL lads having to suit up in what amounts to a crowded Primary School dressing room......I love the idea of close to a thousand teams possibly getting to go up against PL teams and occasionally winning or drawing against them. It's a brilliant competition. Of course, the top teams dilute their squads because they have their sights on the PL or the Champions League. And I love the fact that upstart Stoke got to play in an FA Cup Final and then have a run in the Europa League, where they did very well and punched above their weight class.

I think the minnows have been fucked in the cup, but WBA destroying Liverpools dreams (enter any top 6) makes this competition always relevant in my eyes, bunch of fucking whiny wanking in here.

Would be nice to see West Brom do a Wigan. I think they will do just that IMO or go far in an excellent run, some decent professionals and direct football / hoofball experts. Great in focus for a one off match like this competition or an ambush like today but not good enough in a long campaign like the PL.

The League Cup though probably needs abolishing.

Think most Stokies wouldn't swap Premier League status for FA Cup winners ... Or would They?? Anyone know a Wigan fan and what they think? The way I see it as a neutral, there is a 100% chance Stoke will go down at some point. It might be this year or next year or ten years from now. But they WILL go down. Considering that you've already had ten seasons in the Premier League, will it really matter whether you had one more year? Winning the FA Cup, however, would be very special. Even though the cup has been devalued in the earlier rounds, when you get to the late rounds the big teams still take it seriously, so it's hard for a club of Stoke's size to win it. There have been some underdog finalists in recent years, but when it comes to winning the thing, it's still damn hard. A glance at the list of recent winners makes that clear. The complicated part of the hypothetical choice between survival and the FA Cup is that if you're relegated the same year, it would be hard to enjoy the cup victory as much, and your memories of the glory will always be tinged with some pain.

I genuinely dont know anyone who subscribes to it. People say they agree a fee, say 15 quid a month but dont stick it too it, and take far more than that. I guess you rip off a couple of People and word gets round They watch the odd sky match down the pub but dont subscribe to it. Somebody must subscribe to it though!

Being somewhat of a dinosaur I always loved the FACup even though it's the only major trophy I have not seen The Villa win, however after 2000 I really don't give a toss about it the 'magic of the cup" died for me the day we played Darlington, no disrespect to them but they qualified for their 'cup final' at at Villa Park by being drawn out of a hat as the 'lucky losers' to replace Utd who played in that world club thing in Brazil, total farce now enhanced by manager's prioritizing league over cup and short-changing the fans RIP the world's former greatest Cup competition

The competition is dead on its feet. It's really sad. Ok great Wigan beat WHU, but look at the side the Hammers sent out, like a line up for a Checkatrade Trophy game Used to be such a great competition. Arnie etc not even on the bench. 12,000 at Huddersfield for a game with a chance to get through to the 5th Round, its not like Birmingham is a million miles away! In 71 when we played Tranmere at home in the 4th replay in our FA Cup semi season on a Weds night we over 35,000 I think this competition will get scrapped soon. It's probably better if it does. Hernandez, hart, ogbonna, obiang, Masuaku, zabaletta, byram, Cresswell.... Seems like a decent enough team to me.

I want to see Stoke win the F.A. cup in my lifetime and if that means dropping out of the premiershit so be it. We may not win it again but our name would be on it for ever. Promotion back to the Prem is not impossible.

For a club who's won 1 major trophy to prefer to stay in the top flight instead of winning the cup is mental. Oh no.. we'll get relegated from the Premier League. Absolute gutting. I don't know how I'll be able to sleep at night.
