The fact that we're looking for salvation from an 18 year old shows the mess we're in. It would represent a last, desperate throw of the dice, but who knows, we might get away with it.

He may well come good but the good enough and old enough platitude is just that.

It's Lambert's press conference later, so he'll obviously be asked. Interesting to see what his response is.
I'd be a bit surprised if he doesn't go for it and put him on the bench.
It's an easy win for him, and the crowd will be enthused by it.
Even if he's hoping he won't have to be used, he'll surely work out that he's of more use than Berahino as a last-10 throw of the dice if Diouf and Crouch haven't got the job done.

Have you watched us this season. That is not a luxury we have at our disposal. We are playing Brighton not Barca. We played Bournemouth last game and Watford the week before and we managed 1 goal and conceded 2. We don't have to be playing Barca we have a squad low on confidence and struggling.

Ngoy was decent last year that merited his step up to the first team, he's since been in a purgatory state not been allowed to play with u23s or enough minutes with the senior squad. I like the look of Campbell but if he gets minutes before Ngoy we might As well let him leave. Nah, if you’re good enough you’re old enough. It’s no different than Liverpool throwing in a young Michael Owen or Man Utd throwing in a Rashford or Wellbeck, or some of the ones that don’t work out too. I’d love to see us give an 18 year old who is on fire a chance rather than the same plan that has failed all season. NGoy deserves another chance too but he didn’t really step up to the mark last time, although he was out of position My point wasn't that we should let either go it was more around Ngoy doing well getting promoted and now seemingly rotting away in no mans land, until his loan at least. What does it say about us if we then promote Campbell above Ngoy ? For me Ngoy should have been given far more chance this season to prove his worth for what it's worth I hope they both come good.

Not in a relegation threatened season like this one tbh. His form has probably come at the wrong time for us. If we start throwing in the U23 players at this point of the season, we deserve everything we get. N o, he is not better than Berahino, btw. With all due respect you have no idea whether that statement is true or not. Nor do any of us. Campbell is certainly not (yet) as good as Berahino was at his peak - the Berahino who once scored 4 goals in a cup match. But Berahino's peak was so long ago that it can't be used as any measure of how good he is now. He may recover that form - then again he may not. Campbell is certainly not the complete striker - yet. I'm sure neither he nor his dad would claim that he is. he clearly has a lot to learn. But his current form (say, over the past 12 months) is excellent and no one can say that, if given a chance in the first team, he might not do better than Berahino has over the past 12 months, where his contribution has amounted to one assist and no goals. I would love to see Campbell in the first team in time. I think he could be a good player, he is already showing signs of being a big player. I thought his Dad was a brilliant player. He is not ready to come in to this (our first) "Premier League" relegation battle, we are not ready for him to come in either. It would be very naive of us to start looking towards the U23 players right now is all I'm saying. Ironically Lambert's Villa included a lot of young players with potential, which on the face of it took balls to do but ultimately they paid the price in the end. Stick with Saido and he will do what is required. If his recent sub appearances are anything to go by, he is due a couple of starts I think. It seems like Lambert is doing a cycle of the strikers at the moment too.

Surely it will depend on whether he's training regularly with the first team and how well he does when he trained. I can't comment on Campbell but I know n'goy didn't train well and was considered to be very lazy by some senior pro's.

I was about to create a new message including the words 'last throw of the dice' then I happened upon this at the top of the page! I don't think we are quite at the 'last throw of the dice' stage, not far off, but not there yet.

He hasn't scored for us in the year since he joined and he hadn't scored in a first team game for a year before that. In his bext chance this season to open his account he hit a poor penalty. I realise that much of this is down to lack of confidence rather than lack of talent - but the fact is he simply doesn't look like scoring at present. Of course Campbell won't find it easy if he gets given a start or a sub appearance but he is a good enough finisher to have a decent chance of scoring if he finds himself with a scoring opportunity and that is something which just isn't happening for Berahino at present.

Bloody hell didn't even know Wade Elliott had joined the backroom staff when did that happen? Glyn Hodges left with Hughes, so Wade came in to replace him. He has been a coach with the 23's for a while. Here since the summer I think.

He can't do worse. If Berahino was the complete striker he would be playing every week. We don't really know what is going on, but Berahino has obviously not convinced his last three managers that he should be starting. Let's not forget one of them managers was a cunt and one had a fetish for 6'7" lumps. I aren't saying he should be starting, but he has been written off because two managers hold a grudge.

Given his form this season he deserves a place on the bench, I don't think it's a big risk given how limited our options are up front.

Doesn't sound like he'll be on the bench though.... www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-lambert-press-conference-brighton-1183719PL: I was at the U23s game on Monday night and Tyrese Campbell scored two good goals. He has a bright future ahead of him if he keeps his feet on the ground. He’s one I want to keep close to the first team. We could have let him go out on loan, but I didn’t want to do that. He has a great future, but it is a big ask at such a young age. But do I think he would buckle? No I don’t.

If we just change Diouf for Crouch in the starting XI, we can only have 6 outfield subs from: Johnson Edwards BMI Stafylidis Wimmer Adam Fletcher Afellay Ireland Ramadan Jese Berahino Campbell

It's be great to see a genuine success from the academy

And I thought there were only three of us left still calling for “Great Runs” Berahino to be allowed anywhere near the pitch. Turns out there’s five or six. I’d hate for them to ever get put on a jury.
