What's the bit in that piece at the end about Jese still being in Spain all about? I thought we'd terminated his loan with us.

That worries me immensely. If he couldn't remember him, he clearly didn't stand out as a player he might want should he get a new job yet here he is, as his first signing. I just pray to god that Pieters is fit for Saturday and stays fit for the rest of the season. If this new lad can then displace him then fair enough.

Good move. The last time we loaned an international defender from Germany in January it was all fine and everyone agreed he was ace.

You're sounding rather desperate Dave Well if this lad is a choice of Carto, then I have no confidence in him being any good whatsoever so hopefully Pieters is fit to play and stays fit for the rest of the season. If this lad then proves he's good enough to take Pieters' place, then great stuff. We'll have a very good full back on our hands.

News conference suggesting that he's unlikely to feature v Huddersfield as he hasn't played for several weeks, but PL will assess his fitness levels We do need back up for every position - some are quick to moan when the likes of Wimmer or Cameron are asked to play full backs at least the manager is trying to address this

I have some reservations as to whether this lad will be the one many will hope will lead to Pieters being benched when fit. Still, on the positive side, he's an international and he can't possibly be any worse than Wimmer or Tymon so all is good.

I think part of the reason Staffy has been announced early (by our standards) is the tight time frame we have for making further signings. We HAVE to strengthen the squad by the end of the window and we HAVE to tell potential signings that we are actively improving the squad under our new manager. For once we really can't justify our usual policy "keeping a low profile" or doing things "under the radar" - if indeed we ever could justify that approach. For the next 2 weeks we have to make ourselves look like a club which is actively trying, and succeeding, with our squad improvements. Spot on

Bauer was spotted by Bowen and signed by Hughes - it was a agreed in December I believe. if this is the case what took another 2 weeks to sort out his arrival ?? I have no idea. Sometimes it can take a while to iron out the intricacies of a contract. Or it's a long walk from Russia?

I once worked for a French company and Indian company and the Americans are not the only ones who have a very different interpretation of the English language. I've dealt with company take overs/mergers involving those nationalities and Dutch, Belgians, Thais, and Italians and agreeing the words on contracts can be tortuous process.

Shit enough that Spurs signed him, maybe he was just a bit too young in his development for full blooded first team action at that level ? I think that they basically dropped him and then pushed him forward shows the answer to that is probably not. Not really, it's in perspective, I'd expect a 'shit' left back to be playing way down the leagues, you tend to use 'shit' for anything/anybody that you don't think is at the top of the tree.
