What if after a tweaked line up and a different formation Lambert's Stoke play shit and we lose 2 nil at home to Huddersfield? How could that be Hughes' fault? Equally if Lambert gets a tune out of them, I wonder if the same bellends who tried to give Pulis the credit for Hughes’ success because it was ‘his team’ will be rushing to give Sparky the credit this time round? I wouldn't have thought so. Those people hated Hughes from the outset.

It won't be Lambert that might takes us down, it will be the Hughes debacle. What if after a tweaked line up and a different formation Lambert's Stoke play shit and we lose 2 nil at home to Huddersfield? How could that be Hughes' fault? Fitness or lack thereof!

I dont believe in what managers say, after few hours we will know the facts. I wish he can play with high pressing similar to Liverpool, but with the current physical and fitness status for the players it needs alot of work.

Norwich fan here. Good luck, I'll be following his progress closely for the rest of the season.
He played a 4-1-2-1-2 diamond at Norwich for most of his time here, with attacking full backs providing the width, a deep lying playmaker at the base, a couple of box to box midfielders in the middle and Wes Hoolahan at the top. When we were in the Premier League he sometimes adapted to a 5 in midfield with a little more protection for the back line.
I don't think, to my knowledge, he's used the diamond since. I believe he simply saw that as the way to get the best out of Hoolahan (who he then tried to buy at Villa).
He definitely always wanted to play 3 at the back at Norwich because I think he felt that hanging the options through the middle and just the wing backs providing the width is tactically better, and obviously a few years later Chelsea won the league like that. Trouble was our defenders seemed to struggle to cope with being on a 3 so he always had to revert.
He likes top play with high energy. I'm really hoping he gets a result today because he'll need to win over the fans, but I'm not sure after having a browse that the players are going to have the fitness? And Huddersfield's players are very fit.
The thing I ready loved about Lambert at Norwich (and people might be surprised about this because he's known as very dour, especially after his stint at Villa) was his energy. He was prominent on the sideline and brought real life and spark to everything. He'd be the pantomime villain of he needed to be, he'd be on the pitch when we scored, he'd be on the pitch in front of the fans after every game. It brought a togetherness and a spirit to the club. We've missed that since.
His approach at Norwich was to be quite distant during training (He wouldn't do much coaching at all) and then he'd turn up towards the end of the week and his role would be to motivate, as well as game plan. He got players playing to their very peak, week in week out.
Trouble is, at Norwich he took over a side with good players for the level on league 1, and built momentum. He's yet to show he can really do that in the Premier League and I'll think he'll be up against it here - although his first season at Villa was good and the second not bad.
Anyway. Norwich legend, shame he left when he did.

Thanks for the input Yellow, his energy on the touch line is clearly needed after Hughes' stint. Its interesting your comments on Lambert's involvement in training as Stoke have released a few training videos with PL directing acitivites already. We are sorely in need of fitness and vitality in the team, so the style of play you predict sounds an improvement. We seem to have invested at the back so will see what the plan is defensively. We've tried that system most of the season and its not worked. Good luck for the rest of your season Yellow.

Lambert is no Pep Guardiola but will be a good fit for Stoke.
Expect more aggression, shape and a reason to get up and shout (not always for the blistering spectacle of football in front of you)...
Underwhelming 'face/name' but I'd predict a good fit over 2-3 years once players are in.

The diamond could be a good option for us if the new wingbacks are any good. This would allow for a defensive mid plus two more energetic mids, Shaq at 10 and 2 up front.
Butland Bauer Shawcross/Zouma BmI Stiffy Fletch/Zouma/New Allen Cameron/New Shaq
Diouff Berahiho/Crouch/New

I don’t claim to be “ITK” And if I read this what I am about to write I would think what a load of bollocks but I will relay what I have heard today. My mates Mrs little boy plays for stoke under 12’s and he has day release on Thursday to go stoke training. And he said they were in the canteen where the under 23’s were and lambert stormed in and bollocked the under 23’s for making too much noise and telling them in no uncertain terms to grow up and get serious or they know where the door is. I don’t expect an 11 year old boy to lie and if is true, I like how he is mixing and getting involved with the up and coming age ranges. And shows what sort of regime they were under with Hughes.

No trip to Dubai. Double training sessions planned at CW instead.

Sounds plausible from what people said at Norwich
