After my initial wobble at hearing Lambert's appointment I have to give the fella a chance. We could've had McLaren steering the ship! Imagine that!!! Personally I think he needs to put them through their paces and get them organised. Goarn Stoke! McClaren if anything has got a better record than Lambert.

Biggest problem we'll have is the foreign lads understanding a word he is saying! Step up Charlie Adam, we're not done with you yet... You will be the Mourinho to Lambert's Bobby Robson!

I,m positve he will take us down. No,if we do go down it will be because of Hughes failures both in transfers and tactically and the dithering of the Board as this management situation should have been dealt with at the end of last season. Bollocks once club said he was going nowhere in summer club should have backed him , but gave him only the arnie money ...yes wimmer has been dross but long time injuries to Bruno and shawcross has only made the target ....

This is what we've missed, the whole footballing world writing us off, let's use it like we did in the early days and take the roof off the stadium and make the Bet365 a horrible place to come

After 50 years im OUT................... I don't know why people are attacking you for this. It's very brave to come out at your age. Don't worry we'll be with you! On another positive note. Scottish manager must be the most successful of all nationalities, especially the Premiershit era!

After shock, contemplation and confusion. I welcome the guy and all we can do is start a fresh. That is what people wanted after a year and a half of shock, contemplating and confusion from Hughes.

Because our board can't see beyond their noses.! My anger is with the board not Lambert. I wish him well but let's not try to sugar coat this. I'm not trying to but we all know now wasn't the time to replace hughes. It was too late and the likely candidates had gone followed by our 'ambitious' one saying no It was late but it still needed doing, the problem comes when you have Peter Coates only wanting managers will PL experience and ignoring other candidates because they haven't got any, it becomes a very small unsuccessful pool that you're fishing in.

lets not dress this up, it's a terrible appointment, it's the type of appointment a club who is heading for relegation makes. I'd have preferred to have kept Hughes on, with a bit of backing in the window he'd have kept us up.
at least Lambert has a promotion from the championship on his CV, that will likely come in handy next season.
Happy to be proven wrong, good luck to the bloke.

This is funny... I just googled "Paul Lambert tactics" and this is the first 2 results. 1) 10 reasons why Paul Lambert is the most underrated coach in football - HERE
2) I hate his face and his tactics! - HERE
I think that sums this whole situation up. The only way forward now is to back him, back the team and see what transpires. Please nobody tell PL that this forum exists. He'll be left rocking back and forth in the corner of his office.

I genuinely didn't know (or plain forgot) that Lambert was the Wolves coach when they pissed all over us in the FA Cup last season. As shocking as we were, the Wolves side that day were well organised and had a bit of pace about them.

He managed a B side Wolves team that tore our first team a new arsehole...
It's a bit unfair to condemn the man based on his management at a newly promoted Norwich (he got them promoted and they still love him there) and at an increasingly frugal Villa who's ownership and board was toxic top to bottom
He kept Villa in the league longer than he should have before eventually succumbing, i'm not over the moon with him taking over but after the initial "WTF" we have to let him sink or swim before judging him
He wants to be here, he's done his homework and has obviously impressed the powers that be, if he has a clear plan he's already 50x better than Hughes

David Bowie did some of his greatest work after his German sabbatical, lets hope Paul Lambert's 8 months touring the Bundesliga's finest clubs have give him a fresh outlook and we hit the ground running.....

It’s a massive positive we actually have a manager in place now who wants to be here, going into the game tonight with nobody seemingly interested in the job could have been a disaster. Tonight may still be a tonking but it won’t be Lamberts name against it, hopefully it motivates the players to impress their new manager before he picks his first team.

didn't he manage villa when they were going through internal strife ? might be a bit harsh to judge him on that stint, a bit like judging MoN on his sunderland stint, both clubs have had a rot running through them for some time, both really poorly run clubs.

I'm feeling better already. Mid table it is then. OS I'll take that! Whatever anyone thinks about PL, he is now OUR manager and I, for one, will ONLY judge him by what he does for, and at, Stoke City FC...as long as it's legal of course

The board for selling our best player and not buying an adequate replacement. Hughes wasn’t backed, Lambert won’t have been here long enough to take the blame.

I always liked Paul as a player, and he was a good manager of Colchester and Norwich. Aston Villa was a mini-Sunderland and he kept them up. Blackburn and Wolves both had poor boards, unlike us.
It's right to get a manager with PL experience.
The last ex-Celtic player we had as manager was brilliant, and he came under a very big, black cloud.
