He knows it’s last chance saloon for him... Will throw his heart and soul into trying to make a success of it. Whether that’ll be good enough remains open to debate

I'm warming to it after an initial mental breakdown. He's done his homework and really wants the job and allegedly has a plan on how to accumulate some points, something that Hughes didn't have for well over a year.
Sometimes you can really be surprised in an interview, the board now need to heavily back their man. Anything else would be a disgrace.

I reckon he will keep us up.
His record at Villa is tainted by being forced to sell anyone decent.
Hell do better than that Spanish geezer everyone was raving about, that's for certain.

I just can’t see the board backing him properly, the same with whoever they appointed, that’s what worries me.

I think we've just got to get behind the guy. Stoke are a decent club with many decent players, a few issues in areas but these can be resolved in time. The main thing for him is to keep us up this season and assess what he has to play with.
I don't think we will go down, there are worse teams than us in the PL.
Good luck Paul.

Right, Lambert's our manager so we're just going to have to support him, we cant change it now. What positives are there for this appointment? I'd say: - Discovered Benteke
- Signed Helder Costa
- Signed Brad Guzan
- Signed Ron Vlarr
- Premier League Experience
- Succesful playing Career
- Been Involved in Club Football Recently
- Young(ish)
- Gained 2 successive promotions with Norwich
- 2011 Championship manager of the season
- Succesful cup run last season beating Liverpool
- Doesn't do relegation
I'm desperately trying to get on board with your premise but some of your points don't help. Guzan and Vlaar. Seriously? And he 'discovered' Benteke. Even if he was previously undiscovered he's isn't Thierry Henry. He was the manager when Wolves used their agent and she'd loads of money to buy Costa. It is the thinnest set of commendations I've ever read. But I'm honestly trying.

He was last seen being sacked as wolves were 15th in the championship!! Yet he rocks up here!! I could seriously go fucking mental at this appointment however he’s here now. As fans all we can do is support him and hopefully he proves me and many more wrong

He isn't Tony Pulis He certainly falls in the "anyone but Mark Hughes" category I have some friends who support Norwich and they quite like him Was he in charge of Norwich when they went on theat UEFA cup run and beat Bayern Munich and the likes of Vitesse Arnhem that team played some decent football and was reasonably well organised I just can’t remeber if it was him or did he come after? No, that was way, way back in 1993. Lambert was in his early 20s and only starting out as a player then. He didn't become Norwich manager until 2009. Mike Walker was the Norwich manager who did well in the UEFA Cup, by the way. He's in his 70s now and probably wasn't in the running for the Stoke job

My only hope is that somehow while he was in Germany recently. He was part of some mind enhancing experiment at Bayern Munich, using technology not dissimilar to the "Boys from Brazil" and actually we have the new Joachim Löw.

He's a good manager who has been at some basketcase clubs since Norwich, who he took to the Premier League from League One.
Like Hughes, he has some good contacts in Europe, and like Hughes did when he joined us - has a point to prove.

Sounds like he’s done his homework on us, he’ll know that pace and a mobile, fit replacement for Fletcher are an absolute must.
Get cracking Paul!

Some total over-reaction on here - it's disappointing we didn't get initial targets but the very least we can do is give him a chance. We've got some good players who are easily capable of scraping together 5 wins and few draws.

He's here, he's got 16 cup finals. Let's hope he gets backing from board and fans.
They never look like the messiah. (Pulis 2007-2012) (Hughes 2013-2016)

I too was underwhelmed this morning, but definitely trying to look at the positives now. 1) Hughes, albeit great for 2 years, had lost whatever he had. Tactics, squad, fans, shape... the lot. It wasn't coming back either so he had to go. Just him going will have breathed fresh air into the squad this week. 2) Lambert knows the game very well. He has earned his stripes in lower leagues where you have to be fit and organised. At Norwich he performed miracles! His biggest downfall seems to be job choice (ironic, I know!). He took the villa job, which was a poisoned chalice, no manager would have succeeded in the face of the asset stripping they wanted him to do. He then learned precisely nothing by taking a similar job at Blackburn. Wolves he did ok for 6 months to be fair. 3) New training, new tactics, new belief, new coaches... this all breathes air into a very stagnant club.
I am at Old Trafford tonight... feeling oddly optimistic (Lord help me!)

Possibly. But we would have been in a better position than this uncertainty. Hughes had to go 6 months ago. That's not debateable.

I would have been swayed by him earlier if he was called Paulo Lamberto, had a nice beard and a winning smile, hat tilted to a jaunty angle.
I am so superficial 😂

After my initial wobble at hearing Lambert's appointment I have to give the fella a chance. We could've had McLaren steering the ship! Imagine that!!! Personally I think he needs to put them through their paces and get them organised. Goarn Stoke!
