You’ll all come round to it once the anger subsides. Think he can actually do a job for us.

You may say I'm a dreamer....

surely the main thing is to stay up and we weren't exactly spoilt for choice Because our board can't see beyond their noses.! My anger is with the board not Lambert. I wish him well but let's not try to sugar coat this. I'm not trying to but we all know now wasn't the time to replace hughes. It was too late and the likely candidates had gone followed by our 'ambitious' one saying no

There's also 3 worse teams in the league IMO. The board will also back him to the hilt. But what ‘quality’ players will want to sign for Paul Lambert?

OK, I'm going to be positive.
The feeling at the moment is precisely the same as when we appointed Mark Hughes, a manager who was then regarded as having recently failed, but had a decent if mixed previous record.
He did pretty well for three years and redeemed his reputation, only for things to go belly up for various reasons this season.
If Lambert manages the same and the board learns not to dither if and when it starts going south, things may turn out better than it currently feels like it will.

They're absolutely mad.

No appointment would please this board. It lucky there's only about 2000 of us on here, because some people think they are representative of all the supporters! We represent approx 7.5% of the people who go each week, and approx 3% of all the SCFC supporters! And before the opinion poll police start, just remember that the last election proved that sample opinion poll's mean the square root of fuck all!
He wouldn't have been my choice, nor would QSF, I was firmly a MON fan, but he's now the manager of our club, and I'll back him to the hilt. All that matters now is staying up! Lets review where we are in the summer!
Goaaaaarn Stoke!

Win the next four after tonight and we’ll eyeing a top half finish.
That’d have been impossible a couple of weeks ago, but now we have somebody who should be able to organise our defence and has some decent attacking talent to call on.
I hope people give it at least a month before losing their minds over the appointment.

He can hopefully organise a team and if he can do that then that's the hardest part of the job done. It really should be that simple. We have a talented squad on paper. A bit of organisation and couple of half decent signings and suddenly I don’t feel so bad

He took over wolves in 18th place with 4 wins in 14 games under their previous manager. PL left with 8 wins and 2 draws from his 20 games in charge finishing in 15th place. 40% win rate.
A 40% win rate would give us 6 wins and 38 points plus the odd draw should be enough to see us safe
Think we would accept that.

I,m positve he will take us down. No,if we do go down it will be because of Hughes failures both in transfers and tactically and the dithering of the Board as this management situation should have been dealt with at the end of last season.

It really isn't the same feeling at all How about the first appointment of Tony Pulis? The similarities to that appointment are uncanny and whatever you think of him now or thought of him then, he turned out to be our most successful manager in decades. Paul Lambert is an uninspiring choice but he's the manager of Stoke City and he should have our unwavering support, at least until he's had the chance to have a decent go at the job. He's also got a surprisingly decent managerial record, and if it's true that he impressed in his interview with his detailed knowledge of our current squad and plans to deal with its deficiencies - and I accept that that could simply be spin for the media - then he may be the best appointment we could have gone for, in the short-term at least. And when you're 3rd from bottom of the Premier League half-way through January, the short-term has to be your overwhelming priority. Anything else can wait until June.

I'm being positive: 1. Last time Lambert was at Stoke - www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/385454392. Poor record at Villa, but then who could successfully manage that basket case club? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Aston_Villa_F.C._managers The last one to last any time there before him was O'Neill! When Lambert was is charge the club had massive debt and was put up for sale. Hardly the environment to inspire players. 3. 48 years old - in his prime for a manager. 4. Chose to leave Blackburn. 5. He'll have a lot more resources at his disposal at Stoke than at his previous clubs.

He isn't Tony Pulis He certainly falls in the "anyone but Mark Hughes" category I have some friends who support Norwich and they quite like him Was he in charge of Norwich when they went on theat UEFA cup run and beat Bayern Munich and the likes of Vitesse Arnhem that team played some decent football and was reasonably well organised I just can’t remeber if it was him or did he come after?
