Reading between the lines. He doesnt THANK the fans does he, just Coates and the Board. A definite touch of bitterness towards us there Probably because we were chanting hughes out for about 6 solid games straight lol. Speak for yourself. In the last few weeks I realised he had to go but shouting "Hughes out" I believe is demoralising for everybody, Hughes, the board, supporters and most importantly the players. Don't ever believe Hughes was sacked because of the shouts, I honestly believe the board make their own decisions. I wish Mr Hughes the very best in the future.

Mark hughes is a man of integrity honesty and decency.i wish him well in his next appointment. some of the comments on here defy belief are you really a stoke supporter? Maybe the keyboard warriors on here would prefer a billy bullshit type of manager such as brenda rodgers ffs

I would like to accept that and say fair enough, but you can bet in his pay off it says do not mention anything negative about the club. Where as i would prefer him to come out and say scholes is a tosser And / or Carto or whoever ...
Not saying we will ever know.
But it is essential that PC / JC / DC get to the bottom of exactly what went wrong.
Because it did. Very badly.
And I would start with transfers. And so would I.

He provided some of the best football I've seen since the 70's, but, on the other hand, some of the worst I've seen while we've been in The Prem. Swings and roundabouts, but his time was up and like the class bloke he is, he's bowed out gracefully. So good luck for the future in whatever you do Mark and from the bottom of my heart, special thanks for the 'Stokealona' times. They were truly exceptional.
OS.

I don't know how anyone could read that and see 'bitterness'.
It's a decent, respectful statement from a decent bloke.

I wish him nothing and those Stoke fans waving him off thanking him for his contribution, get a grip.
The statement was intended for one thing only and that was to show how professional he is to make him attractive to potential suitors.
The man had effectively ruined some of the best footballers we have seen as a club and he hanged his hat on Charlie Adams & Peter Crouch (no offence). I would go as far as to say as a manager he was a disgrace.
I have nothing but contempt for the man as a football manager. I wrote 9 months ago and talked about the whole apathy of the club. I was battered verbally for my views and confined to the naughty corner.
Hughes always lowered expectations even though he kept saying he had increased it. Stoke fans took the bait and swallowed the apathy
We are at a low point at th club the only way is up.

'Nothing but contempt' for a man who delivered the club's best league finishes for 40 years and some of the best football played during that time seems a little unfair, as sour as things went.

Reading between the lines. He doesnt THANK the fans does he, just Coates and the Board. A definite touch of bitterness towards us there Can you blame him? Even during the 'golden period' of his run, there was a significant portion of our fans who would not accept him or support him. He is a good and honourable man. I wish it hadn't come to this, I wish he could have gone last summer so he would be remembered for those great years he gave us. Even this year, I wanted him to turn it round, not just because it's our club, but because he didn't deserve this horrible ending. The may be men in this league who are better managers than Hughes, but there aren't many managers in this league who are better men.

As mentioned on another thread I actually like and respect Hughes and what he did for us. He goes with my best wishes But I wouldnt say the fans gave him a particularly hard time until very recently. The idiot who parked his van outside the Brittania with the "Hughes Out" sign was the stupid minority. Things went sour over the last couple of months between him and the fans based only on results on the pitch. In general though we supported Hughes throughout his tenure, so I dont think he needs to bare any grudges against us. Im sure he will be welcomed back at the Bet365 by the vast majority if he ever comes.

I was well within the hughes out camp and whilst it should have been done a few weeks ago, it was still done in time to preserve all the good you did for us. I think you know yourself that your time was up.
The Bojan injury and Imbula signings were the turning point, and once you started going off track you never got back on again.
Definitely others in the club at fault too, but at the same time you didn't particularly help yourself.

Regardless of any conspiracy theories on why he wrote it or who advised him. It's a good honest way to part. I hate all the anomosity, the banners and the ugly vibe. Some people find it funny and thrilling but not me. Good luck to him. A good 2-3 year manager. I concur And may i add Joey Barton can Fuck off! What a classless Ubercunt.

You think he only came out with that statement so he can effectively look good for another employer? You seriously believe that? While I'm at it, who are these best players we have seen at the club who he effectively ruined? If you think this is a low point you haven't been watching Stoke very long. H

Hughes did well but it was probably right for a change to freshen things up again. No need to go overboard about it. He's gone. Let it go.

Having said that I'm not sure you quite understand the nature of what I'm saying , probably because your intellect is letting you down.
