I disagree. I think with even just one day to prepare a PL quality manager should be able to do enough research to get a decent handle on a squad's strengths and weaknesses. We see it happen every week when good managers set their teams up to play well by taking into account the strengths and weaknesses of their competition. Mate clubs have scouts watching the opposition and studying videos for weeks prior to playing them, they will be aware of the opposition they have to play in the league that they were competing. Let's say Mark Hughes walked into an interview this week for a team in the relegation zone in the Championship. Do you think he would have a comprehensive understanding of THAT squad, that he'd know the strengths and weaknesses of it and know which transfer targets he should be targeting? Of course he wouldn't, he's been concentrating on Stoke City. I didn't see thedeadlyshart say "comprehensive" anywhere - it doesn't have to be a comprehensive understanding, but I'm sure any prospective manager will do some research on the playing squad. There will be people in the game they trust who they can call and chat with. They can watch videos of the past 2 or 3 games - probably even get someone to make a 'highlights' package for them these days. They probably have scouts who've seen some of our players, whether it's in the under-23s or first team. Maybe there's even a journalist or two who's player ratings/opinions they trust. They wouldn't take any one opinion out of that lot, but they can take information from various places to form their own opinion. For a variety of different and well rehearsed reasons none of them are suited to Prem football. They'll never feature for SCFC again. Bojan at the very least has proven he can suited to Premier League football. Maybe we need someone like Dr Steve Peters advising certain players.

Bojan initially struggled when he got into the first team. He was impressive during the all too brief "Stokalona phase" till he got injured. On his return from injury he was never the same player. He was easily pushed off the ball, shied out of tackles and was mostly marginalised in all the games he played. He never looked like he was capable of bossing a game in a way he had done previously. Being out on loan doesn't appear to have helped him regain his mojo. I can't imagine any new manager rushing to bring him back.

What is the situation with Bojan, Muni and Imbula when the new manager comes in...do we have the right to just call all 3 back in January?
I would have thought he would want to assess his whole squad on the training pitch or is he just told to work with what he has because they are already out on loan?
I genuine feel all 3 could come back into the team at the moment, let alone the match day squad !

I think one (Muni) is injured, and the other two out of favour at their respective clubs...but probably won't be coming back

Bojan’s situation looks a real shit show.
Alaves sound like they want to cancel the loan, Bojan doesn’t want to leave Spain & come back to Stoke.
He can’t play for another team this season apart from Stoke.
Where would we stand legally if the loan was terminated & he refused to come back? Surely that would be a fundamental breach?

If, by good fortune, we end up with Rafa or Rodgers type then I've a feeling he may change his stance can want to come back on the next plane! If, as you say, he does not want to come back to Stoke then he must find a new clube willing to take him. If he effectively goes on strike then Stoke can sue and ultimately get his contract terminated - I doubt Bojan will ever get 70k a week again (China/Middle East only would be a chance perhaps)

I thought loans could only be terminated with the agreement of ALL three parties - i.e, both the clubs and the player? The only exception is when a player is offered (and has agreed to) a permanent transfer to a third club - in which case his current loan club have no say on the matter. If my understanding is right then unless Bojan agrees to the ending of the loan then the loan must continue.
