Am I wrong here or what ? We only want MON on a short term deal, that is the clubs decision. So why would we cave and give him 3 years? Offer him a 6 month deal if he doesn’t want it then so be it. Go searching in the championship. It’ll be a 2 and a half year deal surely? That’s my point. Why are we letting a manager that we only want as a stop gap dictate to us what he wants. If you’re chasing someone that you see as a long term vision there make exceptions but for me; “Hi Martin. 6 months in the PL. Yes or No?” “No” “Thanks but no thanks, Martin” Job done. Go out and give Lee Johnson or Jokanovic a 2 year deal. We don’t want him bad enough to have him on a 2.5 year deal

Well, it looks like our amateur dealings have given Rowett, Flores and O'Neil the leverage to acquire better deals? Gives you that warm glow doesn't it?

Same reason as you think O'Neill just rants and raves I suppose. I never said that. Got mixed up with someone else then.

How very sad and unimaginative. This appointment will whip the fans up into a feverish torpor. The last hope is we're sending that cretin Scholes out to Dublin to clinch the deal

Charlie didn’t seem that way mate, infact he sounded quite happy with the prospect in his interview the other day🤔 Why do you think that is? There is less chance of him being hounded out of the club and more chance of him being foisted back into the starting lineup with a manager who openly favours British players, and a mental sidekick who loves players that run around kicking people. That doesn't mean the rest of the squad are of the same opinion. Christ I need a massive drink. Or he may think it’s just what some of our squad need?

Martin O’Neill. Boring with shit personality. Wastes money on transfers and wages. Plays shit football. 65 years old. Keane is a nut job. Won’t be able to attract anyone outside of England. Hasn’t been in club football for a decade. Wank, just utterly wank. Posts like this make me miss the smite button I'm with block. Totally disastrous appointment if it happens. I hope we are third time unlucky. Rather have Paul Lambert to be honest.

Running off cap in hand to Martin O'Neil and his bastard child. I hope they tell us no again. I really do. Not necessarily aimed at you but I love how certain things appear to have become fact. Martin o'neil hasnt turned stoke down already and Gary rowett was never ever in the running for the job. Our new manager was always going to have had premier league experience and anyone with even half a brain could have told people it was likely to be MON. It's lazy, it's cheap, it satisfies grandad coates obsession with dinosaurs and it sums up stoke city in a nutshell. We have zero ambition beyond making up the numbers in the premier league. The press. And it's something the club can't seem to grasp. I know Rowett wasn't, I was told that too but it's been portrayed in the press like he did turn us down. Why do we not counter that? It makes us look so small time. When in reality we know he was never in reckoning. Image is everything and ours is so bad.

I fear the players will feel just as deflated at this news as many of us are. It looks like a mid-season 'Kamara appointment' to me. I bet they'll be glad they've got someone coming in who is enthusiastic, determined, and will give 100% for us, unlike some Johnny foreigner might have done. How are you today Mr D Trump?

Moyes, Hodgson, Allardyce, we don't want any of them. They are whats wrong with Football. Same people making a living out of a couple of seasons in a job before it all goes wrong. Then they move on to the next desperate club. QSF would have been a long term plan. O'Neill just sounds like a stop gap. That will be the same long term Flores who hasn't managed anywhere in his entire managerial career (204) for longer than 2 years at a time? Sounded like we offered what he wanted. He has made it aware that promises made in his current job have not been kept. Watford never keep anyone for any length of time.

It lacks courage and inspiration to appoint the likes of MON small time mentality and it will send us down. Not a chance

It's strange that we have gone from a younger manager with fresh ideas and an exciting project, to an old school manager potentially with a short term contract. It does make us look like a club with no really plan or direction

Do we want boring football for half a season and premier league survival, or a inexperienced manager with no premier league experience and a straight relegation just because he's 20 years younger?
People asking for lee fucking johnson. Christ on a bike

Uninspiring, boring, shortsighted, gutless, middle-of-the-road, ordinary, backwards, tedious and insipid appointment. Board out.

So if MON does turn us down to extend his deal, and that seems pretty likely, what then? Megson? Jokanovic?
