Hahahahaa, remember when people were moaning that Roy Keane would be assistant manager, now look what's happened! Appointed a manager on the cheap, standard Stoke City! This stinks of "Oh lets not spend too much, just in case we do go down" rather than balls to the wall, lets back ourselves to stay up. Why would QSF believe we can stay up, if our own fucking board don't. This appointment 100% has one eye on relegation already, fucking bottle jobs the lot of em. Not so sure that 'cheapness' was the overriding factor. More likely their determination over Prem experience ruled out many. Those candidates we originally wanted wouldn't apply or come Those candidates we didn't originally want were available and if you are available, you won't cost.

Obviously...but I didn't refer to the board did I? I specifically said "if Coates Snr got his way...". Why else do you think one of Pulis' henchmen watched 5 consecutive Stoke City games prior to him taking the position at Middlesborough? Weren't we about to play West Brom West Brom was our 3rd game of the season wasn't it? No they watched the 5 games we played prior to Pulis taking the role at Boro and it was after he'd been sacked at WBA.

Is Pulis "acting"manager at Boro? The English language isn't your strong suit, is it?

I'm in fcuking shock I'll back the new manager despite all this Just hope the players and board do too !! Think I may just go to a Parish Council meeting tonight where item 4) is a Blocked Drain - rather than sitting listening to my neighbour laughing next door all through tonight's match

So let me get this right.... The Coates clan want to give the new manager a contract with a relegation clause attached.... i.e if we go down, the terms of the contract mean that the clause can be triggered and we can get rid without a financial penalty?? Flores turned it down, Lambert has accepted it?? Is that anywhere close to the situation ??

Did you (temporarily at least) change the title though?
I'm sure it flashed up as something about our new manager 'next summer' or similar?
That said, I might be:
clutching at straws (obvs)
dreaming
in need of specsavers
suicidal at the appointment.
If it was changed to that, where were you getting that info from milton please?

Sounds like he has put himself foreword to take on a difficult challenge - fair play to him Perhaps Lambert's appointment is written in the stars....
Listening to 5 Live on the way to the New Years Day game against Newcastle, Lambert was on the programme previewing games across the country. When asked his opinion on who was best placed to stay up.... PL was unequivocal that Stoke's squad was full of potential to finish well up in the table.John Percy @jpercytelegraph Lambert appointment sure to polarise opinion but told his interview was outstanding. Knew everything about the squad, strengths and weaknesses. Always been admired by Stoke board As above post last night. Percy's tweet today about Paul Lambert's knowledge of the squad is no surprise having heard him on New Years Day. I reckon he will have the hunger to succeed. He seems to be quite good at leading teams to victories at places like Anfield. Our first ever manager with a CL winners medal?

Could be another OK appointment by Coates, nobody wanted pulis it was the same reaction by the fans including myself a manager that never achieved anything but had a point to prove, hopefully will be the same but the fans have got to unite and become the 12th man again like we used to be, it's going to be a bumpy ride but I think he could keep us up.

The Sentinel piece, just released with the interview of the Brummie journalist has me even more concerned, a lot of it could have been written about Hughes.
Lack of consistent plan in setting the team up. Bland & dour soundbite press conferences " doing ok ", " we go again ". Transfers - Dropped Beneteke as a big plus but then came up with 3 names who were shite.
I was worried before today's news, things just seem to lurch from bad to worse for us, i honestly haven't felt like this about Stoke since that awful home game against Man City ending in both teams relegation.
I will support the guy now he is through the door, what other choice is there, we are Stoke supporters & that will never change. I just find it heartbreaking to be honest that we had got to a place we never thought we would be, like a pay off for all the years of being nobody's, not only that but we have been propelled into being one of the biggest financial institutions in the world game & we still behave like that little club from league one who nobody gave a shit about.

It wasn't 'outstanding' thoug, was it? We approached 3 managers before him. I was being sarky mate! in between sobbing! Sorry mate, I was being lazy/rushing at work and didn't find the original quote!
