I'm guessing they're trying to get Rowett as Plan A.
With MON as the back-up if they can't get him out of Derby?

Surprising if Coates wants Rowett given his relative inexperience. Clearly a decent manager but not convinced we’re the right club for him and he’s the right man for us with the current squad at the current time.

Ambitious I know but i'd love for us to tempt Brendan Rodgers down.
Got a point to prove in the prem and was very good at Swansea.
He can bring Moussa Dembele and Kieron Tierney down with him as well if he wants...

If we piss about trying to get Rowett, Derby will inevitably play hardball and the transfer window could be over.
I like him but maybe one for the summer if Derby fail to come up which as sure as eggs are eggs they will....

Looks like it. I'd take Spinksy's info over his After it sunk in, it did dawn on me how underwhelming O'Neill (either) would actually be, even though Steve McLaren aside, I would have taken almost anyone this morning. I had a feeling we would go for someone like Rowett. I also dont think we would be in this position today if our A and B targets had not given some indication of wanting to come. Going to be an interesting 2-3 days that's for sure and I repeat, I haven't felt this "excited" about the club for a long time, which speaks volumes.

Yeah absolutely and I can't see Rowett being interested anyway.
It'll be O'Neil, they just need to get it done and get on with bringing some new players in.

Jesus Christ we should be working like crazy to get the new manager in so he can get his targets into the side. Why do we always seem to go at snails pace?

Of course it's O'Neill. Coates loves him, has tried to get him before, ticks all of his boxes. Exactly the reason why Coates needs moving on.

I’ve made my feelings known on O’Neill but if it has to be then it has to be. How in touch with club football is he though? Surely we need someone who can identify players that will help us out?

If the Sentinel is correct in saying that the new manager will be backed in the January transfer window then I can't see the appointment being a short term one. There is little point in letting someone spend money on players then walk away at the end of the season. For this reason, I don't think MON is in the frame. For what its worth I can't see us prising Rowett away from Derby, either. As things stand at the moment he has a better chance of taking Derby up than he would of coming to us and then trying to keep us up.

If it is O'Neill then it'd be interesting to see if Keane comes with him. Steve Walford is usually O'Neill's assistant manager having worked under him at every club he's managed since starting out at Wycombe.

I suspect there will be another name on the list. Unfortunately the name you so desire is plying his trade in the North-East If the board really wanted him he would have been signed by now. Turns out they want him as much as the majority of the fans want him i.e. not at all

If anything that is just not to raise everyone's hopes. No reason why many discussions haven't already taken place. I would wager a new manager is in place by Wednesday lunchtime.
