It would depend on the state of Rowetts relationship with the people in charge at Derby. If there it's not great then he would probably be inclined to work for Coates. If it's strong then any approach is a waste of time.
Whatever it is sort out by mid week at the very latest.

What role has Delap got at Derby?
Could he be involved in a potential backroom staff here?

I’d prefer Alan Partridge

Uninspiring shite we are a massive multi million pound business with International squad and who are we after Dev from Corrie to run the place. Think BIGGER Stoke we can do better than this bunch of nomarks.

Would've liked to have seen a premier league manager, but Rowett or even Pearson would make sense now.
I'm sure they'd give it a go to stay up, but ultimately they'll be decent championship managers for us.

Quote But the club's owners do no intend rushing into a decision over the weekend and are not expected to make a significant move until the start of next week. Jesus Christ we should be working like crazy to get the new manager in so he can get his targets into the side. Why do we always seem to go at snails pace? Isn't it amazing how the lack of information on the situation generates impateience. Now that the vacancy is official, there may be some applications from unexpected quarters which may be worth examining; the club may have a few 'irons in the fire' where we are awaiting responses from 'already tapped' sources. Just because things may not happen over the weekend and in line with Football Manager does not mean that 'nothing' is in the pipeline.

What role has Delap got at Derby? Could he be involved in a potential backroom staff here? Very highly thought of U18 Manager U-21 now. Got promoted. Won the league last season. I'd love Rory back here as Assistant to Rowett think he will make brilliant manager one day.

Rowett would be great in that a) I think most fans would be behind it b) if the gamble to stay in the prem fails he seems to have a good record in the champ.
So the big question is how hard would be push for it. One thing the dirty money of the Prem has proven is that if you look down a league everyone has a price. Now would he want it?, not sure would a massive payrise, long contract and funds for Transfers, that could be tempting.
We won’t get another working prem manager as they have enough cash to tell us to jump!
Will be an interesting 7 days.
PS Please please for the sake of further unrest keep away from McLaren and Giggs!

So Nixon was wrong then about the first choice?
He's on Praise and Grumble next. Let's see what he says!

I will repeat rowett had a lot of good will within football after his wrongful sacking at brum
No way on earth does he then do a similar job on derby especially with the position they are in

Nixon still claiming the main choice is "complicated, quite expensive, with Prem experience, in work..."
Rodgers?

Hunt Nixon for the next few days. He knows who we are after. It’s probably Rafa then?

Can’t see why Rafa would want it really, save possibly for geography.

I suspect there will be another name on the list. I'd imagine there will be several. Thankfully none with the initials T and P though.

I wonder if we could see us 'loaning' O'Neil until the end of the season as Ireland haven't got a competitive game until August and then going for our first choice in the summer?
