It's hard to see past MON, we all got excited when TP went, only to be left underwhelmed with the appointment of Les.

I think it's telling that there are seemingly plenty of different "genuine" sources about who's lined up or top of the list.
Which suggests nobody has the foggiest

If we are going to go for O'Neill then frankly I would rather go with Gordon Strachan.
In club management he has also managed teams playing expansive football, not just one dimensional stuff.
He always speaks highly of stoke. And he is unemployed.
He is good at coming in and firefighting. He turned Scotland from a shambles into a competitive team after just a few training sessions, by keeping things simple and getting his team organised.
He also commands respect from his players.
I wouldn't be surprised if coates has contacted him

I don't read it that way myself. My take on that is more like "not Rowett, Giggs, etc or some unknown from the continent"
If it was Benitez, wouldn't he have simply said that it was a Premiership manager, rather than saying it was a manager with Premiership experience?
Could be but perhaps by saying Prem experience it allows him to cover a wider range of individuals, particularly if he really doesn't know for certain who it is. It's all just speculation in the end and frankly, I'd take any bugger right now, apart from Steve Mclaren and Tony Pulis!

Would Pearson not also be complicated, given his attachment to the Leicester owners...? Nixon ruled him out on twitter (if you believe he's got a clue!)
Thinking about it ... Rodgers, Bruce, Ranieri and Mancini all fit the criteria that Nixon has given.
Bruce especially could be who he's talking about.

Well it won't be Mancini. Forgot about Ranieri. He would be great

Yeah, it's possible. What's confusing the Nixon clues is his description as the chosen candidate as just an 'ok name'. Surely he'd have Rodgers a bit above that? Can't see Mancini being a contender though - but Bruce and Ranieri do fit. But still think he was referring to Rodgers.

I'd take Barry Fry if he kept us up and then go balls deep for Rodgers in the summer

I wonder if we could see us 'loaning' O'Neil until the end of the season as Ireland haven't got a competitive game until August and then going for our first choice in the summer?
If we fail to get our first choice or two then yes we could offer a lump sum to them

I forgot about the 'ok' bit ... that really does sound like Bruce or Ranieri then and I'd lean towards it being Bruce.
No way would he describe Rodgers as just being 'ok' it would be the coup of the season for a club like us.

So by Nixon’s logic of in work and Prem experience, we have:
Rodgers Benitez Bruce Mancini Ranieri O’Neill
Still go back to his reluctance to answer which country he was working in, which tells me it would be a giveaway, meaning:
Rodgers Mancini Ranieri O’Neill
Not bad when you think 2 Prem winners, an almost-winner and MON...
Taking Coates logic and Nixon’s “ok”, I’d go O’Neill.

Wouldn’t ranieri be a bit better than ok in the eyes of the media at least. I mean he did win the premier league 2 years ago

Don’t see why it would take a long time to get an answer from Villa about Bruce though, following on from Nixon on P&G tonight.
MON would probably need committee approval from the FAI, which might need a board meeting taking a little longer to set up?
