So are we saying currently odds mean fuck all? Examples 1: I chuck £500,000 on phil brown. Phil brown then comes into the top 3 for the next stoke manager, right? Because ive chucked all that money onto him Example 2: Roger Federer plays a 17 year old lad with no rank (wild card) in wimbeldon's first round. I stick £500,000 on said 17 year old. Does that mean he becomes more likely to beat federer? Under betting odds? No. It just means you’re an idiot that just proved that “a fool and his money are soon parted”.

Probably Mirror flying a kite and making 2 and 2 equal 5 based on the odds, but... www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/transfer-news-live-liverpool-arsenal-12538471Rowett set for Stoke job Gary Rowett is poised to get the Stoke job - just five months after turning it down.
Derby boss Rowett is top of Stoke’s wish list and looks set to make the switch after Paul Lambert’s departure following relegation.
Rowett was Stoke’s first choice before appointing Lambert in January but he opted to stay at Derby and signed a new contract.
Rowett claimed at the time: “There are not many opportunities to manage in the Premier League and everyone wants to do that. But having played for Derby and lived in the area, my aim has always been to do it with this club.”
But despite going down, Stoke have come back for Rowett and are confident of getting their man this time.
Stoke have also looked at Mick McCarthy and Nigel Pearson but it would appear Rowett is now in pole position.

Why are we supposedly chasing Rowett again. He made it quite clear in January that he wanted to stay at Derby - and he has not managed to get them up!!! Not my choice. We are going to make ourselves look foolish again when he says NO!!!!!

Negative, no plan B, no creativity, build up or wing play, sit back and plays on the counter, in for a long season.

Says my Derby supporting colleague I'm really trying to see the positives here but why didn't we just keep Lambert if we are just goping to replace him with a similar manager with six months less knowledge about the pile of shite he is walking into in terms of players who need clearing out . Makes no sense at all at the minute .

Says my Derby supporting colleague I work in Derby and this is what everyone is telling me. He wants a promotion on his CV and we look a better bet than Derby, now. He plays some turgid stuff, apparently. We’ll have to wait and see...

Jesus christ, what i love about this messageboard is everyone seems to think that if the papers reporting it, it must be true!
When it comes to managerial signings, unless someone at the club has leaked this information, then odds shorten when more money is lumped on one man.
Bit like the horses, you might have a favourite to win the race, but if the money swings towards on horses, their odds shorten! Pay no attention to papertalk!

Says my Derby supporting colleague Everybody has opinions but no reason to suppose any of them are wiser or more believable than another. There is just as much pro and anti rhetoric about Allardyce, Moyes and the other suspects. With all of them the truth probably lies somewhere in the midst of it all but exactly where, who knows? It's healthy forum fun but I wouldn't hang my hat on any opinion, even my own.

Didn’t see much of how Derby played but you would like to think we would have better players/ resources etc ...

Not read anything else on this but surely if he's had a new contract at Derby, we'd have to pay a shedload of money to get him out of it? After his Derby failure at the end of last season, I don't see why we would when there are managers out of work available.

Indeed, many of those sheep up on the Staffs Moorlands have probably been shagged by both sets of supporters. Stoke it is then!!"

After his Derby failure at the end of last season, I don't see why we would when there are managers out of work available. Well if he hadn’t failed at Derby then he wouldn’t be looking to take a step down a league. There needs to be some realism as to who we can attract now and he seems to tick a lot of boxes...unless Pep says he fancies a new challenge ;-)
