I've never even thought of boycotting games before but this may be the time. What a boardroom of witless fucking ostriches if this is really true. Thought the same. Time to stop going until the wankers take note. Boycott Bet365 as well. The owner, board and manager are taking the piss.

I heard a whisper that it will cost £6.5 million to get rid of him. I’m sure we could raise some towards it with a whip round!

I'll actually be angry now if he stays. If he goes now, he'll still go with me remembering the good times and respecting the job he did. But every week longer now risks him being hounded out like a dog and he doesn't deserve that. The board are bottling it now Totally agree, it's hard to see/remember how good the first 2 1/2 years were under his tenure, I wouldn't like to see him vilified and you are righ the board are bottling it and have been for a while now, they have bottled it over ground expansion plans (ten years in the prem), they have bottled it over funding the manager when it was patently obvious we needed to rebuild in key areas and invest to move forward and they are bottling it now it seems with replacing Hughes. I suspect they have no transition plan in mind and they have missed the chance (last Summer) to bring a younger more progressive manager in and fund him sufficiently. The whole club is stale from top to bottom.

Why would he willingly leave his job? When an employee is not performing the required task, it's up to the employer to take action and find a replacement.

He just cannot stay if we are to have any chance of staying up.He needs sacking tonight and someone bringing in before the Huddersfield game on the 21st to give us a chance in the games that follow that fixtures. If not pressure has to be put on the hierarchy by us the fans

For Hughes to go you need a top class manager available. Unless Coates has been speaking to some body I haven't thought of I can't think of anybody out there and available. The worse thing we can do is go managerless, if you disagree have a look at the teams that haven't a manager at the moment, they are all struggling.

No what is needed is a competent manager who can organise a defence, we need to grind out points and stop shipping goals Temporary appointment of a defence coach would do. Keeping Hughes means more of exactly the same, his comments demonstrate he doesn't recognise the problem or the danger

I heard a whisper that it will cost £6.5 million to get rid of him. What a load of tripe. He is supposed to be on £900k and has 18 months left on his contract so will only earn £1.45m - how could it cost us more that his wages for the balance of his contract.

Now is the perfect opportunity to change manager if we're going to do it. The transfer window has opened and it isn't like we have a must win 6 pointer in 5 days time. It would be time for a manager to come in, have some work with the players and possibly make a signing or 2 before the next league game 2 weeks today.

Paying off all his backroom staff! The question is, how much is it going to cost to keep him if we go down?

If the board don't do pull the trigger in the next day or two he will see the season out. A new manager would have nearly two weeks to work with the squad and assess them in a cup tie and be given a chance to change and organise things before our next league game.

I don't do social media, but everybody that does needs to really make some fucking noise and tag the official Stoke pages and the official bet 365 pages on everything. Shit is obviously going to get ugly before we are heard! As opposed to the Oatcake which very much anti-social media!

Not sure who this guy is but it’s unbelievable if he stays - what has he got to do to get sacked?! The statement essentially means nothing beyond attempting to shoot down the barrage of questions. If Stoke did want to let Hughes go, they could do so tonight, tomorrow, the day after. But they aren't going to sack him at this point, which only makes sense.
