Re brentford and dean smith
Yes they have both done well
But oli watkins at brentford is exceptional, if we dont sign him, we are mad. My knowledge of brentford is based on watching the championship on channel 5 and even I can see He is a stand out player

I don't know about Brentford's manager, but their recruitment team might be worth having a look at.

Wouldn't want that obnoxious prick Roy Keane anywhere near my club. Roy Keane would rip a new arsehole for a number of our players. Imagine what he would do to Shaqiri after him pulling up for that ball. I'd stick him in midfield atm

He has less than 18 months left on his contract. We’d have extended by now if he was willing to stay. He’ll be off in the Summer, like Butland.

He isn't going anywhere is he? Coates will see this through to the bitter end.

Keeping Hughes two years ago after our post semi-final collapse was an understandable decision, but a poor one in hindsight.
Keeping Hughes and co. this summer was a bad decision. It was time for a change.
Standing by Hughes when able firefighters were snapped up by more decisive clubs, meaning that we missed the boat with Hodgson, Moyes and yes, even Pulis, was a very bad decision.
Sticking with Hughes after the West Ham debacle was a terrible decision.
Deciding to stick with Hughes and then having a complete volte face just two games later, on the first or second day of the January transfer window, without an alternative manager lined up, is a reckless, dangerous and nigh-on suicidal decision. Who's going to sign the players that we so desperately need? How are we going to convince a decent manager to join us? How do we avoid getting stuck with a no-hoper for several years, when we need to do a proper root and branch restructure in the summer?
Whether we agreed with the decision at the time or not, the board became totally wedded to Hughes when every other remotely palatable manager found themselves otherwise employed. To make the call now, long after the horse has bolted, would be a total dereliction of duty that would leave us completely hamstrung. Hughes has run his course, but we simply have to make sure that he's backed in this window in certain key positions and try to get through to the end of the end of the season. The option of sacking him disappeared last month.

I wonder how many times Coates has picked up the phone this season and been told by a potential replacement to bugger off?

A panic appointment now to try and keep us up, might ultimately mean that we don't even end up with the best man in charge to attempt to get us back up.

So is the best option to start preparing for the Championship now (especially ship out Jack, Shaq & Joe now whilst we can still command a reasonable fee)? Do we get in an up an coming manager used to the league but with potential (the Bees' manager an obvious candidate)? Or stick with LMH to the bitter end but give him and the "transfer team" only minimal cash for propping up the squad & prep for next season?
I really worry that Coates is convinced Hughes is the one for next season as well!

By keeping him we are guaranteeing relegation because there isn’t one sign that things are getting better. We’re getting worse by the week in fact. I’d rather we changed for someone like Pearson and see if he can dig out a Vardy than just give up which keeping him would do.

John Percy's match report didn't seem to rule out a sacking, but don't suppose he knows anything definitive. Still think Spinksy's tweet means he'll be out today. www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/01/01/stoke-0-newcastle-1-mark-hughes-future-back-spotlight-asayoze/"back under serious pressure after his gamble at Chelsea ultimately backfired, in what could become a watershed moment for the Stoke manager" "Hughes’ future at the bet365 Stadium appears increasingly precarious" "..this felt like a significant, perhaps fatal, blow" "Hughes surely had to win this game after fielding such a weakened team at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, yet this dismal defeat and the manner of the performance will only increase the scrutiny on the Welshman" "Despite his impressive first three years in charge, when he finished ninth every year, the statistics right now are damning"

what tweet is that? I can't find it but around 8.00pm last night he tweeted that there was still no decision from the club whether Hughes would be in charge at Coventry.

Spinks was on TalkShite early this morning. His actual words were:
"I've not been given an assurance by the powers that be that he will be in charge for the next game"
Judging from his tone it sounds to me like Hughes is going.
