I dont think Rodgers ego would allow him to come here, we are so unfashionable? I have stared at the list for a good long while, read all the opinions on here & the links provided & i cannot come up with a top 3. Major problem i am finding is looking at the candidates against our squad & we are so unbalanced & lacking in options in certain areas that i cant come up with a match, its hard to see where personnel changes can be made as it sits. January is going to be vital to us & it is fast approaching. Agree on Rodgers. Small chance in the summer maybe, but not now. But we're very close (if we're not there already) to needing to just chance our arm and hope for the best. And it's got to come before January to give the new man a fighting chance. If I was offered someone even of the ilk of Pearson tomorrow, I'd probably take it.

The top 3 are running away from the rest, but don't know how realistic they are? Rodgers 139 Koeman 111 Rowett 108 ----------- O'Neill 40 Potter 35 Pearson 33 Pulis 33 Laudrup 20 Galtier 19 The 33 who voted for Toxic... Hang your sorry heads in shame

Shame he probably wouldn't see us as a big enough club I think he'd do a solid job not scared of giving youngsters a go either. Football is a bit boring but effective.

Why was Thomas Tuchel not included in the poll. He is available having left Borussia Dortmund and been successful with them over the past two years. Would be a brilliant appointment.

I think we are there already FM, i was talking to a mate of mine & he always poses the question " who would you bring in though"? Last night my retort was simple, i am not sure anybody can do any worse. I think it is the case that a shake up may be all we can hope for & that it will be enough to muster some sort of fight against what feels at the moment like the inevitable.

I cannot see him attaching himself to a club with our public image, lets face it nobody really likes having us around at this level.

Can't see Rodgers being at all interested, I can't remember ever seeing a mention of a link to WBA, West Ham or Everton. Would have thought that if he was getting itchy feet up north, that his agent would have been getting Rodgers name out there in the media. My guess would be that he gains nothing from being linked to clubs like Stoke and that he has eyes on another high profile job.
Koeman is interesting. His job at Feyenoord was to revamp the squad on a budget, where we brought through a bunch of kids to sell on at profit. He took on the Southampton job after they finished 8th, and improved them year on year. He has a reputation as someone who just wants to manage Barcelona, but he's going to have to spend another 2 or 3 years at a mid-table club before chances like that come around. Plus, I'm sure he'd have the point to prove that Everton were wrong to fire him off.
Don't think managers who have a good chance of promotion will now make the jump to a struggling Premier League club. Rowett has a lot more to lose than gain if he jumped ship after what, 9 months? If it really didn't go to plan, he is a sidenote on Derby's promotion to the Premier League, and the manager that got Stoke relegated. Even if he doesn't take Derby up, he'd still be in with a good chance when the next round of mid-table Premier league jobs come up. Same for Wilder.
The longer the current form continues, the more chance Pulis would have. Can't accept that him coming back would be anything but a disaster, even if he did keep us up.
I think we are likely to see candidate list of:
Nigel Pearson Steve McClaren Martin O'Neill Alex McLeish Paul Lambert Michael O'Neill
And I'm struggling to get excited about any names on that list. It would probably be Pearson.
A couple of names I would throw up:
Peter Bosz - Disaster at Dortmund, did a great job at Ajax. How much of that was Bosz, and how much was an emerging, exciting young group of players? I dunno.
Martin Jol - Took over from Hughes at Fulham, so has experience of having to de-Hughesify. Things went pretty downhill for Fulham after he went, though.
