Don't think it's realistic with the takeover imminent, is it? Although you never know. Mind you, not sure Rodgers (or even Rowett) are either!

It's Nigel Pearson , we yet again dithered and shit out when Allardyce wss available , now it's cast iron certain to be Pearson , no compensation to speak of will stay when we go down , will work under self sufficiency as he's no choice , nobody at this level or the one below wants him so cheap .and will work with scholes unbelievably unambitious appointment as we contemplate the loss of £55m a year revenue over the next two years and to,prtevt those who caused it

I voted Karanka because
1) highly regarded at Middlebrough and they were very reluctant to sack him, and, as here at Stoke with Hughes, the owners wanted to see it out with him, but the fans turned against him.
2) good defensive coach; his problem at Middlesbrough was they couldn't get in any good strikers to score goals. We have more talented forwards than Middlesbrough had.
3) still young ambitious and will relate well with the players and motivate them as he did in Middlesbrough's promotion season.
I accept there are certain middle-aged British managers available and some are presently doing well at their new clubs, but I think that is purely short-lived impact of a new boss and will fizzle out. We need a new younger manager for the longer term who will fix the defence problems and build long term, with fresh ideas. We don't want "boring old farts".

I've set the poll up so you can select your top 3 choices. Only one vote needed - we can't appoint 3 managers. One name stands head and shoulders above the rest - Tony Pulis.

Rowett or as a left field choice Derek McInnes. We have quite a history of employing Celtic managers under Coates is it a religious thing? What could we expect from McInnes what style of football does his team play?

Heard decent things of Rowett so he gets my vote. I realise these are the current realistic candidates but it's a list with some pretty uninspiring names on it to be fair.

What could we expect from McInnes what style of football does his team play? McInnes played for Rangers and is currently Aberdeen nmanager so I don't think there can be any religious or Celtic link. His teams work hard, press high up the pitch and often feature wingers prepared to croos the ball (Ramdan may well not be his cup of tea).

Wrong sort of Celtic I was on about Keltic (phonetic) as in foreigners from the British Isles green skirts ginger beards and wigs. He's probably not a catlick if he's played for Rangers mind they normally make a bit of a big thing about it. So at least he plays football from the current era.

It's not just the owners' heads that have gone.

Before he wins at a canter and a petition to "Gogerrim Pete" is delivered to 365 Towers on Monday, can anyone tell me what Rowett is actually like as a manager / what his brand of footie is?
Apols but but I really CBA'd to watch Derby.

As I said to you some weeks back a lot Derby fans are not happy with the style of football Rowett is producing as manager. Seems a bit picky - they're amongst the highest goalscorers and best defences, and that league is a bloody grind. Derby are surely at the stage when they need someone who actually delivers. It's hard to be a cut-price Man City in that league, isn't it? (although Wolves are making a good fist of it, it has to be said!)
