You can strike quickly when you don't have the ball. The second you get it back you look to break with pace and get it forward quickly. The goals we scored against teams like Swansea, Fulham and Spurs in those first two seasons were exactly of that ilk. That's a different thing to what we are trying to do now. Initially Hughes played fairly well balanced teams weighted toward attacking potency. We were trying to look after the ball and trying to get on the front foot. What we are doing now is forfeiting possession and trying to defend the edge of our box hence the defence are under almost constant pressure and opportunities to make individual errors multiplies. This is totally different gravy it is very Pulislike with more and more players sacrificed from attacking roles to defend concentrating on shape and numbers behind the ball over possession and territory. Its pretty shit even when it works but to try to rely upon it when its really not your bag is crackers. Yes I agree we're piss poor now. While everyone else is doing the high intensity pressing stuff we stubbornly refuse and are neither fish nor fowl.

I couldn't have said it better myself. His re-writing of his time at the club is baffling. It's no use playing the victim when has put him in this situation himself. The blokes deluded how he can say this is right up there with last weeks debacle of a pre match press conference and the comment about Berahino....unbelievable, he has become very arrogant for me though, he had some humility when he first came but the small amount of success we initially had made him arrogant and stubborn and now he can't seem to change, very strange. Facts and figures The clocks turn backwards Just like Mark Hughes' time here at Stoke the last 18 months

Just incredible that four so nice people can make such fantastic and devastating music.

I used to defend hughes a lot and thought he could turn us into a European team however after tonight he has to go his tactical ineptness showed why take off one of your best players when you have others that had gone missing the whole second half the only conclusion I can come to is he is trying to get sacked for a pay off Hughes its up to you to do the honourable thing and go now

Serious question - why would Hughes resign? Some of you are that blinkered that you honestly think he'd walk away from a pay off. The irony is all of you lot wouldn't either ...

I cant believe this is the same manager who got us to 9th The second half tonight was managed as if it was someone whose Xmas wish is to be ex-Stoke manager The substitution of Shaqiri was beggars belief. Ive never seen a worse substitution in my life. Fletcher and Crouch were visibly spent from the 60th min onwards. anyone should have been able to see it. That team apart from Shaq and Zouma has relegation written all over it. they made 2 subs and we did nothing. I just dont where we go from here with this manager, apart from down. Truly awful management tonight.

There really is a deeper issue, we look so unfit and sluggish and we can’t get the technical things right. I can remember someone posting a video on social media of shooting practice before a game an in a 2 minute video, 2 shots were hit on target, 2 shots on target in a shooting drill. Regardless of this result or the results in the next 2 months, whoever is in charge, something needs to drastically change.

I also think as a temp man for the next 2 games and this will seam controversial id get rid of all his backroom as well and try Charlie Adam as caretaker I think he has the ability but is not quite ready any other contenders from within as caretaker manager for sat

He needs putting out of his misery. He's talking absolute nonsense in pre/post match conferences and that substitution tonight of Shaq was made by a man who's brain has fallen to pieces. I can't begin to fathom the thought process, I blame Bowen just as much for not stepping in.

He can't go into the details right now, but if we stick around long enough, he might just tell us what we already know and have done for 18 months.

20 quid at 11/2 20 quid at 3/1 Hughes is now at 15/8 as next manager to go.
I'd swap all my winnings for a nice run of form and a few wins, can't see it though.

He had clearly lost the focus and inspiration he brought when he first came to us. The owners made a significant and, what's more a very avoidable mistake.

Tell me again why he wasn't sacked on Saturday.
Every day wasted with Hughes is a day wasted for our new manager to assess the squad before the transfer window.
