.............Butland............. Zouma.....Ryan.....Wimmer....Eric .......Allen........Fletch....... ............Afellay.............. [brShaq...............Choupa.... .............Diouf............... Similar to what I would do .............Butland............. Edwards...Zouma.....Ryan....Eric ..............Allen...................... .......Fletch........Afellay ...Shaq.......................Choupo....... .............Diouf............... I would play Allen as the middle CM and play him from deeper. If Edwards does not look too great I would bring Wimmer on for him and let Zouma and Ryan move over one to fit Wimmer in as LCB. I would have Ramadan ready to come on for Afellay at H/T. And Jese ready for a run out for Choupo if Edwards is looking good to stay on.

Am I right in saying whenever we play a team that has played midweek in the Champions league & Europa league we get hammered the following weekend? I’m pretty sure Man City and Chelsea are examples. Let’s break this pattern starting this weekend

Our best performances have been when Shaqiri has played centrally. He’s good but not as effective played wide on the right. Thus the only viable option in my humble opinion is 4-2-3-1 - we must get players behind the ball otherwise we’ll get a good hiding.
Butland Edwards Shawcross Wimmer Pieters Fletcher Zouma Diouf Shaqiri Choupo-Moting Crouch (or Jese)

If we play a central midfield two of Allen and Fletcher we will get overrun. If Geoff is fit, I'd go with a middle three of Cameron, Allen and Afellay in front of a back four of Zouma, Shawcross, Wimmer and Pieters, with Shaq, Ramadan and Diouf in front of them. So you'd drop Choupo for Ramadan? I wouldn't personally. I think Choupo offers a reasonable amount of cover on the left but he's there to attack/create, especially if we play three in midfield, which we should. But, is Geoff fit? Away from home, after a rather lacklustre display from Choupo and the fact he has been carrying a knock, yes I would. I think Ramadan offers a bit more defensively, and Lord knows Erik needs all the help he can get! It would also reward his decent contribution after coming on as sub last time. It will not harm to rest Choupo for the forthcoming hectic schedule of more winnable games, where we will need him at his best. Regarding Geoff, who knows? A reportedly mild concussion has kept him out for over a month already......

- Food and drink – Visitors are advised not to bring food and drink to the stadium as there will be sufficient provision inside for purchase, and suitable mortgages available. I just read that and fell off my chair. If they really are committed to security then make turning up early slightly more appealing than have your Crackers slammed between two halfenders whilst a cockney relieves you of your life savings.

As optimistic as I'd like to be, I can't help feeling we are tailor made for them. Whatever system we play, we'll be painfully ponderous in midfield compared to them and they'll get behind us at will. If the attacking players have a real on day, then who knows but I rate our chances of keeping an unsoiled sheet in this one at absolute zero.

So Geoff is available, but Jese has disappeared back to Spain. I fear that may be the last we see of him.
Geoff's concussion sounded really worrying so it's good news he is recovering well. I feel Hughes will not risk him from the start just yet, but look to ease him back, probably coming on for Fletch or Afellay for the last 20/30 minutes.
Butland
Zouma Shawcross Wimmer Pieters
Fletcher Afellay
Shaqiri Allen Ramadan
Diouf
Subs: Grant, Edwards, Adam, Cameron, Choupo-Moting, Crouch, Berahino

Going to be a tough one but at least they are below their best, hope we produce a solid display , cut out the stupid errors and if we get a chance take it . Please not another hiding going into a run of season defining games.

Shaqiri behind Diouf and Crouch

We can tinker with selections and formations but there still isn’t a shred of logic to suggest that we can avoid defeat in this one. Our slow and hesitant build up play combined with our love of giving the ball away with monotonous regularity are manna from heaven for this Spurs side. It’s an ‘anything’s a bonus’ weekend for me but it would be nice to stay this side of 3!

Butland Edwards-Shawcross-Zouma-Pieters Allen-Fletcher Choupo-Shaqiri-Sobhi Diouf
We can't play 3-4-3 We can't play Zouma at RB and need a specialist there. Shaq must be central.
Using that as a starting point, think that's the best we can do, although ideally I'd be giving Fletcher a rest. I'd be surprised if Adam started a game for us again and although I was encouraged by Afellay's cameo last week, I can't see him being chucked in for a start.
If Cameron was fully fit, I'd be starting him alongside Allen.

I would start Crouch. I would also take a gamble and play Berahino off Crouch's flick on's. I've got this feeling that could be the answer for him..... Deffo worth trying Berahino either 442 with crouch or if crouch up on own playing left fwd with diouf on right

I 'm glad to hear Geoff is available again. We have not been playing well and so it is the correct time to make changes and to take chances. If I selected a team to play Tottenham I would be very wary of there undoubted quality and our past history over the last few seasons so I would go with:- Butland, Edwards, Zouma, Shawcross, Pieters in a back four I would then play Cameron, Fletcher and Allen in front of the back four. This would leave Shaqiri, Diouf and Choupo across the front My subs would be Grant, Berahino, Afellay, Tymon, Zimmer, Crouch and NGoy

Every time we have played these in recent seasons we have been spanked.
Will we do the sensible thing and try to park the bus?
Tottenham 3.5 goals or more at 3.75 looks tempting.
