We're lucky to have such a committed team player. He's a credit to the team.

Looked absolutely shattered when the final whistle went You have to admire the bloke Love the guy; absolutely gives it his all and is seemingly under-appreciated by a good portion of fans. Other than Wednesday, isn't that a goal for every occasion he's been played up front in a striker role?

Has he been in the past few Senegal squads? Can't say I've seen him mentioned during the international break so he's got something to prove to get in the world cup squad potentially? Anyway, I love him.

Comfortably our best option up front.
Mark Hughes treatment if this one player is enough grounds for him to be sacked.

I have said it since Hughes first dropped him, leave him up top and persevere, he will get us goals. Brilliant attitude, but because he isn't silky shiny and Messi-like some don't rate him, bizzare!

Most composed finish I've seen from him in a while! Love the guy. Proper worker with a top class attitude. That goal meant the world to him today!

I don't rate him coz he's error prone and misses too many chances, that said he's currently our best option. Can never doubt his heart and commitment though

Today’s game was a microcosm of Mame. The only thing you can be sure of is the utmost commitment and endless running. When it comes to finishing he took a tricky chance beautifully and missed a relatively easy header.
You’ve got to like the guy. Play him up top every week and he will get 10-12 league goals, which for a side like Stoke is a very respectable return.
Not bad for a free transfer.

Bayern only the player Will know that he just signed a new contract and that suggests in the round he is happy , may be he was just carefully managed and protected at a very difficult time . im the first to say he should have played more often and up front but he is clearly comfortable here management otherwise he wouldn't sign

Makes me sad to think we've wasted 3 years of not having him up front. It is bewildering. Every time he plays in a striker role chances fall to him. That's not coincidence, he has a striker's instinct and anticipation where the ball will drop. Sadly as we all know his finishing can be woeful but that's why he's at Stoke.

If he had converted every chance then he would have been playing for Real Madrid. Even Peter Thorne and The Golden One missed a few sitters. He still have the instincts and is a proven goal scorer at this level.

He’s obviously got the eye for goal and really should have buried that header in the second half. Unfortunately he undoes some of his work with that embarrassing dive in the second half which you tell he was going to do from the moment he got the ball.

I just thought Thorne scored gluts of goals in easy games, doesn't compare to Stein who scored against anybody and everybody. What would Shaq give for a striker with Steino's movement?
