He's one player I always want to do well. Last off the pitch every week, going to every corner of the ground clapping all the fans out on his own.
Would love him to hit some great form.

It is a real shame that he's been poor recently but I put part of that being down to him being played at wing back. Improved a lot second half after a poor first half but Ryan got him out of jail when he was skinned by Naughton I think. Far better in a back 4.

IMHO he's a decent FB, a less than decent WB. But whatever's asked of him at least he tries.

He was much better today especially in the second half when he started intercepting and tackling them early.

Tell you what, let me have a game and I’ll be last off the pitch and clap the fans. The problem is that you should really expect something better of someone who has 20 odd caps for Holland. For the first 20 minutes he was poor, then played okay and nearly buggered it up until Shawcross saved his bacon. I don’t know what to expect with Eric anymore, but I think the issue has become that I am usually pleasantly surprised if he has a game that does not include a major cock up.

All the other players play, he's still the last off the pitch, going around on his own clapping everyone if he's been great or shit, he still does it, that's my point, that he's one bloke you hope hits some good form.

I actually thought he was pretty toss so I must have watched a different game. I did struggle to see some of the stuff on the far side second half so I might give him the benefit of the doubt. His complete inability to cross and the fact his right foot is only for standing on is really winding me up. So many times in the first half him and Choupo would receive the ball and just play it back stifling any attack. If you could put Olssons ability to cross in Pieters then he’d be a far better player.

It's takes some balls to stand up and be counted after the ridiculous stick he took in the first half .For me he is infinitely the best left back in the club and should simply be played there .

Was chasing down everywhere. One minute he was pressing their centre halves, another he was tackling on our right wing.
Not the most gifted we have but that win meant everything to him today. He left it all on the pitch

Would he be last off the pitch if Sparky told him he was only getting paid for the second half? In the words of the late, great, Sir Winston Churchill - "I fucking think not".

A bloke near me at the Liverpool game slaughtered him for everything, sometimes when he was not to blame. It was as if he was willing him to make a mistake!

Clearly he is a better LB than WB, but he never gets his crosses past the first defender.
That said, I love his attitude and really hope he gets his 'mojo' back

He's getting a mixture of half-arsed praise (gritty and honest) and criticism this week because we won on Saturday. His next big fuck up is always just around the corner though. The way some people interpret showing some effort and determination v Swansea after being utter dog shit v Liverpool as ballsy is such annoying bollocks. The fact that the bloke is on 10s of thousands of quid a week plus all manor of ridiculous bonuses is also a decent incentive. Imagine screwing up at work to the point where it's costing your employer money - week in, week out? Only in football. How do you think Moyes got the West Ham job after Utd and Sunderland? My New Year's resolution is to be very ordinary/crap at my job. I'm determined to consistantly make errors that are not only costly, but land my colleagues in the shit too. It will look like I'm trying my arse off though, which will hopefully keep the punters happy.

The whole team was toss for the first 30 mins, so a bit unfair to single out Eric. After that he was defensively sound. Hopefully at some point the manager will realise he is a full back not a wing back.

So many times in the first half him and Choupo would receive the ball and just play it back stifling any attack. In no small part because Fletcher never showed for it and, as much as he might try, Alan can't be everywhere. I'd rather they went backwards when there are limited options than ran into trouble or tried a very low-percentage pass.

Also, his name is Erik not Eric FFS. How hard is it to get our own players' names right?

Hugely frustrating player who hit a very rich vein of form and was rewarded with a new contract that looked fully deserved.
He has then become a bit of a poster boy for the teams demise as his own poor form has coincided with the teams which is currently and 18month-2year hangover.
The underlying issue is that his position is never under any form of threat and if ever a player could benefit from competition then right now it's Erik.
However until that replacement arrives we will continue to see in and out performances and when that is happening with a player in a defensive position if will highlight much more as a critical error can and will lead to goalscoring opportunities for the opposition.
He definitely got some stick on Saturday but for my money it did him the world of good as he decided to show his balls and became much more aggressive in his tackling, tempo and badgering which is exactly how his mindset needs to be.

Hopefully it will come with time but that is a big reason he looks so hesitant a lot of the time.

He's suffered with two major problems this season.
1. He's not a wingback. 2. Kevin Wimmer.
The wingback system has left him a bit confused and Wimmer is dreadful at being sucked into midfield leaving huge gaps behind him both sides (See Ryan's excellent recovery tackle on Saturday).
Play him in a back four alongside Bruno and we'll see his form drastically improve IMO.
