1-0 against the Geordies. Back on the slow road to recovery. Some easier fixtures coming up. Anyone who thought we were going get a result today are in cloud cuckoo. Let's get behind the lads and start the New Year in a positive mode. There's so much wrong with that post I have no idea where to start! Go on have a go.

When you see the lack of application from most of our players, it is quite amazing Hughes is still in the job, surely peter Coates can see what we are seeing.

I forecast the last two results prior to today. Today was a throwaway. Hughes called the shots and decided Monday was more important. WHICH I agree with. This is the nature of the Premier League. If Shaq or Joe had gotten injured or suspended today people would have been moaning their chonnocks off. We will be ok. The summer will be a landmark time in our Club's history. In many ways.

They will be well up for us, and remind me where we go to following that game? Confidence will be blitzed if its not already. He has to go to get someone with fresh ideas urgently!

Only Adam, Diouf and Ramadan played with any enthusiasm. The rest came out believing they could not play with Chelsea, which may have been true but it’s down to Hughes to get them fired up. Very poor man management and now we are deflated before we even kick a ball on Monday. He needs to go now.

There's so much wrong with that post I have no idea where to start! Go on have a go. 1-0 against the Geordies. Back on the slow road to recovery. Some easier fixtures coming up. Anyone who thought we were going get a result today are in cloud cuckoo. Let's get behind the lads and start the New Year in a positive mode. It's the same "I'm alright Jack" complacency that's got us into this cesspool of insanities to begin with. "We'll turn it around", "The players will click", "We'll plug that gap in the next window", etc, but this mythical arrival never comes. It's misguided hope and faith that has led to inaction that has led to stagnation, and now a seemingly terminal decline. The "easier fixtures" line has already been trotted out in the first half of the season and wss proven to be wrong, we failed to capitalise on these and the only surprising thing about the table is that somehow there are teams worse than us. It's not the defeat that people are pissed off about, it's the manner of said defeat: 1. Basically admitting, publicly, that the game was a write off. 2. The mindset that this created amongst the playing staff. 3. The unforgivable neglect of the squad to lead us with such critical deficiencies in the first place. 4. Yet another in a litany of, quite frankly, shameful catastrophes. 5. The fact that Hughes is not being accountable for his shit attempts at performing the most basic elements of his job. 6. The refusal from the club to acknowledge (through action) that there is anything wrong. I could go on about how and why this club is a aggressively cancerous at the moment but I'll stick to rebutting this post. The time for optimism is gone, we can support, but change is needed or we will be down. There is no turning this round with this man in charge, he has clearly demonstrated that he is incapable of doing it and the position is blatantly untenable. There's no hoping for the best anymore. It's action or death.

He can’t and that is the single biggest problem. “What’s all the fuss about” he says. We need to throw 5,000 pies onto the pitch against Newcastle on Monday.

Indeed there is so much wrong with the statement above! 1) How you seemingly think we will beat Newcastle is pure arrogance there is no way they will come here and lie down, there a decent team having already beaten us this season! 2) there are no easy fixtures in the premier league at all every fixture is tough and even in the "easier" fixtures earlier in the season we failed to win (Palace,Brighton,Newcastle,West Ham,Bournemouth to name a few) 3) Nobody expected us to beat Chelsea but what some fans are complaining about is the lackluster performance and lack of fight from the team, those who traveled down to Chelsea should have there tickets refunded!

All I know is that Man Poo aside we've got a reasonable run of fixtures that should garner some points. BMI comeback will be crucial in my opinion.

We've had three of these under the current manager and then a regression. Nothing unusual and nothing to get alarmed about. We will finish about 13th this year ... par for the course in my opinion. Unless the owners pump some mega cash into the kitty this is where we will remain.

I was thinking at half time if it finishes 4 nil that's acceptable.
Then I thought if we lose 4-0 away from home that's not acceptable actually, that's really poor. It's shocking in fact.
Thankfully they scored a fifth and I hadn't thought that far ahead (although at the ten minute mark I was worried it could be double figures).
Hughes will have January. If we've not got signings in the bag already, sorted and ready to go before Coventry then you have to ask what have we been doing for the last few months? If we're waiting until the end of the month for a bargain then we're more naïve than I thought possible.

What we can be is competative, which is exactly what we are not, and haven't been for 2 years.

Nobody is suggesting we will finish ninth, nobody's even mentioned it on this thread so I don't understand why you've chosen to make that completely irrelevant point; but whilst we're on it, there is "regression" in terms of dropping a few points and places, and there is "regression" that is: 1. A complete annihilation of identity. 2. The removal of any style, substance, attacking confidence and defensive competence. 3. The obliteration of any gelling or team spirit. 4. The overall quality on squad depth suffering what can only be described as a holocaust. 5. A cancerous mindset and atmosphere around the club. 6. Players looking like they don't care and have lost all faith and confidence. 7. No shape, no formation, no tactics, no pressing, no pace, no idea. Stop talking as though we're going through a rough patch. This is a measurable and demonstratable series of marked and consistent declines in every single department of Hughes' job over the course of two whole years. Results don't lie, stats don't lie, we are getting thumped on average once every 4.5 games, having conceded 40 in 16 games, with a pathetic points return, no home form of any note and with an away form that would make TP blush. We are firmly in relegation form and it's only through the fact that it's come between seasons that means we haven't already plummeted. It is nothing short of arrogance to believe that we'll beat the Mags no problem, and the same applies to every team we face, because make no mistake we are absolutely shit. There is nothing, NOTHING to suggest he as a manager or the squad can suddenly flip this around.

We will end up about thirteenth in my opinion. The point I am making is that Stoke fans cannot expect too much more with the level of investment currently thrown at the playing squad. Hughes is having a sticky time at the moment...no shit Sherlock you may say... but I think we need to keep with him and support him. Just like the Chairman.

I'd like to see Hughes replaced at the end of the season, i just don't see the point in sacking him now, theres no viable replacement and even if we brought someone in he'd probably get no more or less out of the current players than Hughes is getting now.
lets just hope we can put a little run together and gather enough points to stay up, then there needs to be a total overhaul pre season.

The fact is bet 365 refuse to invest in the club
They could ! But they don't want to !
On the one hand it's fair to say , it's their club ,their money , they will do as they want
But on the other hand ,omg is it boring for the fans and uninspiring for the players
