Yep we did.
No dressing it up, all eight went in. Was it eight or nine?
I too am not jumping up and down singing "Here we go here we go ....."
I think that we can new settle down and get on with the season.
If we don't take points off the next three games, I might start thinking that summat might be up!

I'm hoping this shellacking will be a wake up call of sorts. What does that mean? I've no clue.

How to beat Man City: 1) Strike oil 2) Create a dictatorship that looks like Disneyland 3) Find all the Pakistani workers that Abu Dhabi fucked over to build their own Disneyland and would like revenge. 4) Give 11 of them steel capped boots, pay them 100 million each and put them on the pitch. Watch what happens to De Bruyne and laugh.
Football is a game. It's not a bunch of millionaires running around. And that's all Man City are. I don't give a fuck how clever and skillfull it is, it's not entertaining. I'd rather watch Rochdale draw 0-0.

Yes matey, next few games will give us a better indication of where we are. Neither ashamed or embarrassed by yesterdays result(although never expected to concede 7)I always move on pretty quickly from any defeat,it helps to keep me sane, and before anyone accuses me of being a 'happy clapper',which I am not,the match has gone as far as I am concerned. There's nowt I can do about it,can't change the result so I have accepted it and hopefully its onwards and upwards from here on in. (Knowing that I am going on an all day sesh with a few fellow work mates a bit later on has helped also.) As always GGGOOOAAARRNNN STOKE.

time to brush this one under the carpet and move on. no matter how good man city are they would not have scored 7 with Bruno shawcross and joe allen on the next few months will define our season. winnable games to come,

It worries me that Hughes says we couldn't even match Man City's 'physicality' but it is quite correct that the next half dozen games will define our season. Let's see if he has worked out a way to deal with teams that sit back and allow us a bit more possession - which is just as big a challenge as our ability (or lack of) to cope with teams with better players than us.

Bournemouth will tell us a lot about the teams mentality and whether we're up for the fight. If we don't bounce back and give a performance oozing commitment after a 7-2 drubbing then it really is time to Give up. If we don't get a reaction then it'll be time to think about Hughes ability to motivate and who he's bringing to the club and their attitude. I'm pretty confident we'll get a reaction just hope we set up right and get players back as the injuries are hampering us too. I'd imagine Joe Allen should be back and we'll back to 3 CBs with Geoff, Indi and Zouma. I just hope we can give Dioufy a crack up Front as Jesé hasn't earnt his place.

I like to dress it as a more positive thread. We were given a lesson, or more like master class, by a world class side, who finished 3rd last season and have just spent another £220 million. Hopefully we won't sweep it under the carpet but learn from it and recognise that the loyal supporters who went along deserve better for the rest of the season. If they* don't learn, then we can expect the club to go the way Sunderland did after their thrashing at Southampton. (*Players, manager, staff, owners)
I still think we can quickly get into the top half of the table, depending on how other results go. WBA are sitting 10th with 1 more point and have only played one match against a top 6 club, a loss against Arsenal. They will soon be dropping points. Newcastle and Huddersfield are sitting either side of them, having played most of their matches against bottom half of the table teams, whereas we have only played 2 games against teams in the bottom half of the table.
We lost by 5 goals to ManC, but then so did Liverpool. We have doubled ManC goals conceded this season and ManU have only concede 2 so far, both to Stoke. That's 4 goals against the top 2 sides, who have only conceded 6 goals in 16 matches. Posters complain about the lack of a goal scorer, but we have scored more goals than Burnley in 7th place.
For goodness sake, Watford lost by 6 goals to ManC and are sitting 4th in the table. LET'S BE POSITIVE, we have a good team who have had a very tough start to the season and picked up 8 points in 8 matches, which a lot of the whingers said we couldn't, and done it despite injury disruptions to the team. As we go into a run of winnable games we need to get behind the team.

We've £12m in the bank plus the 25 or so we allegedly budgeted to spend in the summer £40m so we chose not to invest from 13th and falling , Man City chose to invest £200m from 2nd simple correlation really , we bought yesterday on ourselves without a shadow of a doubt

You can't look at this game in isolation though. We have been given more than enough dickings by teams with pace and movement and our response is always more of the same!
I cant think of any other Premier League team that has conceded 4 or more so many times since the start of last season and it shows no sign of stopping.
People have said often enough that things must change but there are no signs of it happening. Coupled with the fact that we continually spend big sums of money on players who just aren't good enough and you wonder where it will end.
I'm not in the Hughes out camp yet but I think I would be if Big Sam said he was available.

Just about brought myself to read the BBC's quivering summary of the stats. The first thing that annoyed me was "Manchester City scored seven goals in a Premier League game for only the second time - also 7-0 v Norwich in November 2013."
Secondly, no where does it mention that discounting pre-season, we were the first team to get 2 against them this season. We were crap, yes. They had a good day at the office, yes. The class difference was palpable. the fact that we can't do that to teams like Bristol tells you that there are stark divides in the premier league.
But - we did to them what bigger teams could not. We are not toothless and as long as we have the fortitude to get up and lick our wounds this does not have to be the end of days.

I'm bored shitless with our approach over the last 18 months to 2 seasons and would love us to change the manager. We either get hammered by at least 4 against anyone decent and then struggle to beat the likes of Bournemouth or Huddersfield 1-0.

The pressure on Hughes is building and building.
£18M chucked away on Wimmer to add to the countless £Ms already thrown away.
And we haven't improved, indeed we have deteriorated and continue to deteriorate further.
20 months ago he had taken us as far as he could.

Given the fact that our defence is in tatters and we were playing a team that is superb on its day; add to that, that they had the world's best midfielder in Kevin de Bruyne in genius-mold on the day; plus their individual movement and skills were magnificent, I'm writing this result off as 'just one of those days and it happened to be Stoke who were facing them on this occasion'. I watched MOTD and I was in awe at some of the passes KdB made. His vision (matched by his ability) is truly amazing. Their manager said this was their best performace since he arrived, so I'll take his judgement rather than that of a load of disappointed Stokies. Yes, it was awful to watch us getting demolished, but no team would have lived with them yesterday. They were brilliant.
Having said that, we didn't help ourselves. We were sloppy at times and provided them with a platform to shine as they did. We did score two goals too.
I'm no great Hughes fan, but I won't be judging him or us based on this game. The next few games will give us a far better complete picture than this pelting.
OS.

Wait till we play the shit away. Another thrashing coming. I'm fed up of it! I know some will come on and say we got a draw there last season, but we were bloody lucky! P.S. I'm not happy just playing to stay in the prem, with the inevitable trouncing every now and again, plus not a hope in hell of winning a trophy. Time for me to call it a day, as I get so depressed watching the dross served up. By us!

It could quite easily have been 8,9 or even 10 yesterday.
This is the first big dicking we've had in recent times, but there are plenty if not far too many four nillers under our belt.
Also let's not forget they took there foot off the gas at 3 nil but still had 86% possession in the first half.
The concern is on so many levels.
1. Butland and Shaq our two best players will not want to be part of this for much longer. Why would they?
2. How can you attract players? We never win anything and are okay, unless we play top six, then we are utter wank.
3. Those good pedigree players we have / did attract (Bojan, Imbula, Sobhi, Wimmer, Berahino, Jese, Allen, Choupo) looked / look miles short of what we expected. Add to that the lesser players of Muniesa, Joselu, Wolscheid, Hauguard etc who never did much / aren't doing anything then you have yourself a pretty woeful transfer strategy.
4. We have a manager who is clueless, absolutely clueless when it comes to:
1. Buying decent defenders 2. Having a team with defensive shape 3. Doing something about it
All in all we are a club going nowhere that is less attractive to players than when Pulis was here in my opinion. There is only one way for us and it ain't up. Might not be this season but it's coming as long as Hughes remains.
