Today is not a day for making judgements on the manager. Man City are light years ahead of most teams in terms of squad and ability. Look at the results they've chalked up already.
The next 5 games will be much more of a yardstick to whether he should stay or go:
Bournemouth at home Watford away Leicester at home Brighton away Palace away
All bar Watford are currently below us in the league. If we don't do something half decent against that lot then it will be time to go.

Today is not the day I agree but if you were Coates sat there today and you see the latest £18 million pound signing hooked off at half time because he was not good enough(Hughes own admission) and a partially fit Bruno coming on you must start asking questions regarding the big money signings. This following on from the hapless Berahino and the useless Imbula.Yes he’s not had much to spend but you can see why after these 3🤔

Played 4 of the Top 6 in the first 8 games. Has exceeded expectations by getting 8 points from those games. He has. But they are the ridiculously low expectations that he set last season and the last 4 months of the season before.

before the season started, has he done enough so far to quell the Hughes out brigade or is it time for a change? Judging by Darren on Radio Stoke at the minute it’s the latter Many others said ten games. A lot said 19 games .......

I hate to say it, but I think we have seen the best of Hughes. He got a tune out of a lot of Pulis signings and had the balls to tell them to play attractive football.
He also made some good signings despite being initially shackled by a ridiculously low transfer budget.
His recent buys have been shockingly ineffective, though, and he doesn't seem to know how to play to our strengths. We aren't improving, we are stagnating.
I wouldn't bat an eye if he went.

Absolutely spot on. We're not the first and absolutely will not be the last to be thumped by Pep's lot this season. Perspective is required. Quit with the excuses. That was gutless, embarrassing and downright shambolic. You could count on less than one hand the number of players who actually gave a shit. Ramadan was a special kind of wank, I have no words for Jese, Fletcher and wimmer whilst Tom Edwards...just Christ. Is there a worse debut in the history of football?[/b] I know you're a die hard supporter so I realise you may be pissed off having witnessed the game. But that's one of the worst posts in the history of the oatcake. You want to place blame for a heavy defeat on the shoulders of an 18 year who is the best prospect we have, making his debut in a makeshift team against the champions elect. Shame on you. I just hope he stays off here and doesn't let his confidence be affected. Not only ill advised. Also wrong.

It was a hard game in which to make your debut but he was incapable of doing even the basics right because of a total lack of belief in his own ability. His part in their opening goal, ably assisted by fletcher was embarrassing. I felt sorry for him but to have a thread about how well he's done is laughable really.

He has to go. He hasn't got a fucking clue what he's doing. Today's embarrassing result changes nothing. How is this an embarrassing result? They will and have been smashing teams left right and centre. We have a good points tally when you consider who we have played. We have 4 winnable games coming up let's review after then

The next 5 games imo will determine whether Hughes just sails through the season or comes under pressure. I would imagine the club will be expecting a good points return out of Bournemouth,Watford,Leicester,Brighton and Palace.

Right now, I think it'll be less on the agenda than it was in last April/May time when the fans got worked up but Coates' finger was almost certainly nowhere near the trigger Today will be seen as an aberration against one of the best teams in the world. The games get much friendlier now before Christmas. I'm not overjoyed at all, but I doubt it's remotely even a talking point at HQ Absolutely spot on. We're not the first and absolutely will not be the last to be thumped by Pep's lot this season. Perspective is required. Stoke fans dont do perspective.......hes either the anti-christ or manager of the year.!! 😁

We need Shawcross back to partner Zouma and Cameron at the back and 2 up top imo, then we might get a fair few

Is it that really that bad? In the grand scheme of things no. They spent approximately 150 on full backs alone, we' were always going to get beat if you think it's really embarrassing enjoy washing your knickers where as I will just accept the reality that we will finish mid table

That's the way sunshine...get on a young lad's back following his debut and baptism of fire. What a cock end you really are. You're the embarrassment here. By the way, I don't recall you being so scathing after getting mauled at Chelsea under Pulis. Funny that.

Out now tonight. Should have gone months ago. All he has done this summer is waste even more £Ms and further weaken the team. Every single second longer he remains the club continues to get weaker. Nonsense.

He made a £12m profit in the summer it's not him that's deciding the levels of investment or executing the transfer strategy . You don't think he has a say in who we sign?

Stoke City and Sam Allardyce. Two names that at some point will come together. That's the day I relinquish my season ticket

Overall I'd like a new manager. I don't dislike Hughes, but too often we are listless, disinterested, disorganised. But then we do put in good performances sometimes, man utd and arse this season. Its just weird how really really bad we can be at times I hate to agree in wanting a new manager but right now that's also how I feel. We've lost our identity and we're losing the plot. Please prove me wrong Sparky. Patience is starting to wear a bit thin now! What the fuck does "we've lost our identity" mean? If it means we try to win games by playing football instead of pulling pushing holding and scything down opponents, I'm glad we've lost it!
