Why didn't Hughes play the kids? I'm sure it would have been a similar result but it would have given him chance to see how they performed. He would have had support from the fans ( most im sure) as compared to now when he's copping a hiding Because his best chance of keeping his job over the next couple of years Is to win or get to a cup final Going well so far

Not just back from the game, but already awake for an early shift. A conclusion or two. 2 words...no direction. 1st half I have never seen so much gesticulation & hand signals from players, as it genuinely looked like we didn't know what formation we should have been playing. Apart from the last minute of 1st half, we offered nowt & deserved nowt. 2nd was like watching some of last seasons games again in some sad de ja vous episode. As per someone else, Ramadan needs to get his idea of basics right by stopping the pissing about & supplying crosses that are decent. Adam sadly should be nowhere near our 1st team again, and should have been substituted a lot earlier than he was. The referee was inept, but Im not giving Leslie an excuse for the evening at Ashton Gate. Wimmer will become this seasons Spurs buy/German defender boo boy by the end of October. (Yes he is Austrian, but some of our fans last night seemed to have forgotten Austria was annexed by Germany a few years ago). Any neutral will have struggled to guess who the Premier team was last night, and which team had made 9 changes with a good peppering of youth as a bonus. I hope the Potteries bound Stokies had a safe and I bet diverted M5/M6 journey home last night, at least it was a very quick hour back for me Taking the cups seriously eh Mr Hughes? Must be focusing then on the FA Cup in Jan......if your still with the club by then Was that you in the porkpie hat Caerwrangon...

weird that as Liverpool should have been 3 or 4 up against a woeful Leicester. Same team that then scored with their first shot on target. But feel free to make shit up about Leicester battering them I refer you to the answer I gave to the honourable gentleman previously...... Leicester bided their time and had some luck but once they had their noses ahead battered Liverpool in the last quarter and didn't sit back trying to defend a slender lead - a commendable response and great attitude for which they have been rewarded..... Stoke however .......or do you want to make some shit up ?? it's irrelevant to the stoke game but it's obvious that you didn't watch the Leicester game. Bided their time my arse...... Nice use of ....... though. Adds that special touch of arrogance don't you think?

Fuming, when I saw the sides I put my balance on Stoke at 10/11 as thought was a knocking price. How wrong!!! The only saving grace was I was at the Echo Arena watching Micky Flanagan, he certainly lifted my mood!!!

In contrast I haven't been as disappointed and furious coming out of a game since Nuneaton away in the FA Cup 17 years ago. It's nights like last night that make me wonder why I'm wasting my life watching over paid pricks half heartedly ponce around taking the piss out of fans who invest an enormous amount of time and percentage of their income to support them. The complete transition of our play against the big teams compared to newcastle and now bristol city reserves is simply unacceptable. Is it any surprise that the only player that showed any sort of desire was Fletcher? Because Fletcher is a winner, a leader. The rest appear to simply turn up with a naive attitude against the lesser teams and once they realise that they're up against it they cave. Mentally, there is something seriously wrong in the dressing room. Hughes should be blamed partly, but those players should hang their heads in shame tonight. Agree on that, fletcher only player who looked half decent and Grant made a few decent saves

'kin ell - talk about missing the point....bided their time / rode their luck whatever - but they stuck at it and were rewarded - and they DID batter Liverpool once they went ahead unlike Stoke who capitulated / put insufficient effort or urgency into it.....that is all.... ...........or is it.......

Just to blend in with the crowd yes ๐คฃ You looked so miserable taking your flag down, I considered playing the Last Post Would have been very apt! I even considered during the dire 2nd half doing what fans do on the continent & displaying the flag upside down to show my disgust at the "performance"

A 'slough of despond'. I just hope they feel like we do today and, one positive emerged i.e. it confirmed, there were two players at least, who started last night who, should never be allowed near the first team ever again!!!!!! For,even on the radio, it sounded like we were playing with only 9 men and perhaps upon reflection, thats goes some way to explaining both the performance and result. Fair play to Bristol though for taking advantage of our total and utter ineptness.

It certainly wasn't a match you'd chuck a grand on Stoke winning. Disappointed as the next man but I don't get to see us play very often (I was in the home end - my first foray into the territory of the wheelchair section) so I still tried to enjoy the experience anyway. It's not like I'm not used to watching a poor performance on the telly *sigh*.
My Bristol supporting mate missed the first goal while visiting the bog so it was nice for him that they scored another...
Oh and Choupo's hair was looking just splendid!

BM dont go then. I have had disappointing results for 40 years but I will still be there on sat. the fact that we are prone to bad results makes the good ones even better. I am still celebrating December 2015 when we beat man city and man utd

Stoke's surprise defeat NOT as bad as losing at HOME to a Leeds reserve team. Burnley had 7 changes but Leeds had 9 changes.

Another Bristol City fan. Just signed up to say what a great bunch of fans you guys are. Was at the game and talked to a couple of yours after the game, they gave credit where due and were complimentary about the club in general. Then reading through this thread I would say its to your great credit that you haven't gone all big-time Charley and become part of the Premiership bubble (good knowledge of our club and how we might play despite the difference in stature).
In my opinion, I would say Hughes didn't take the game seriously enough. in the post game interview he said he had made it clear to them not to do that but that appears to be the extent of his effort. in the 1st page of this thread, without the resources he would have had available, you have spotted the players we already knew would play (Our managed named 3 of them in derby post game) and worked out the key weakness of one of our CB's. Seeing Crouch on the teamsheet was a relief and Flint deals with players like that in his sleep, but can't deal with pace and runs in behind. Berahino's pace (he got free once even in his cameo) & Shaqiri cutting in all game would have caused him all kinds of problems. It would have taken minimal effort for Hughes to work this out.
Anyone obviously glad we one but Stoke fans are a class apart hope the rest of the season goes well for you. Good luck.

It has probably been said already in this thread but Mark Bowen claimed that this was the most important game of the season; clearly what the management were thinking beforehand and for obvious reasons.
Why then were the players so lethargic and why did he not pick his best team, injury permitting?
Please don't respond because we have Chelsea on Saturday. That game in the scheme of things is pretty irrelevant in comparison.
I am assuming he does of course know what his best team is- but I do doubt it.
