TBF you have not spoken badly of Crouch himself but of tactical shortcomings - however I disagree. Pulis' decline stemmed from the inability to replace the pacey wingers in a very one-dimentional set-up. Crouch suited Tone's tactics to a tee. Replace non-league Mama with Crouch in our earlier set-up and we would have been even better than we were. In our current side where he is bought on as a sub to change things he is perfect. Long may it continue. He wasn't a perfect Mama replacement, much as I derided his lack of ability Mama had power and mobility that Crouch has never possessed.Long ball football simply doesn't work without power and mobility. Ideally what you want is a Kenwyne Jones with a greater work ethic Pulisball at its most effective and enjoyable. As a target man for a second striker he is perfect. His first touch and headed direction are the best I have seen for a 'big-man' at Stoke. You are right, Sidibe was there to harass defenders as much as anything else which Crouch cannot do, but other than that Mama is not fit to lace his boots.

No.
Head like a 50p piece, controls the ball like Bamby on ice!
An amusing distraction at best.

Of other modern players (since we moved to the new stadium) I'd only have Fuller and Walters as legends. Whelan would join Skeels in the great players but just below legends category. So we have 3 modern players each, and one in common - mine are Shawcross, Fuller and Delap (the throw pushes him ahead of the likes of Walters and Crouch). I think I'll add Shawcross once he has retired. Delap I am very tempted with - I may get back to you on him!

Crouchie will go down as the player who when he joined the 100 club and scored the most headed goals in the premier league he was playing for Stoke City. So he has put us on the map purely for those 2 reasons. Also is there another nicer footballer than Crouch??

No. Head like a 50p piece, controls the ball like Bamby on ice! An amusing distraction at best. Your joking of course ? One of the best professionals to have played in the prem. By that I mean he has been loved at every club he's played for, never causes trouble, gives all he has in every game. Model pro in my opinion. Ok never has been the best player but his record speaks for itself. Not sure if you could call him a Stoke legend but everyone that knows football knows of Peter Crouch and will be remembered long after most current prem player have said goodbye and wondered off into obscurity with their easily earned millions. So yes, he is a legend or will be when he finally hangs up his boots.
