He'll be the campest-running German to set foot in France since Lieutenant Gruber in Allo Allo. Pisser.

I don't think replacing wolly will be a priority. We coped without him last season and can always switch back to a back four if any of our cb's get injured. One of the main gripes against Hughes over the last 18 months has been that hasn't had an established system and doesn't know his best team. If we're going all in three at the back, then we need to recruit for that system and a Wooly replacement should be a priority. If we can make three at the back work, it would be fucking ludicrous to change it mid-season due to injury or suspension. Let Hughes build a team around the system and style of play. Otherwise we're going to see the same problems time and again. It seems he's finally starting to do that, and now he's getting pelted for it.

My lasting memory of Wolly was his meltdown at home to Sunderland.Probably the most hapless defensive performances I have ever seen. Always an accident waiting to happen although it would always be someone else's fault. The most hapless defensive performance you've ever seen in a 1-1 draw at home to Sunderland?? You not been to many games? Apparently, he never saw Jonathan Woodgate play right back.

Nice enough bloke but for me never good enough for the prem with his lack of pace. Not denying he had some good games either but it's best he moves on for his own footballing career. He was not a very good player and by all accounts not a nice enough bloke. He was allegedly a pain in the arse with an over-inflated opinion of his own abilities and with a tendency to blame others for his own mistakes.

Do any of us really know what any of the players are actually like behind the scenes? I can definitely see him being a proper knob, based on some of his on-pitch antics. But that's just speculation.

But that's just speculation. I've met the guy twice, the first time when my lads were mascot against Everton. He spent 10 minutes speaking to me and the kids and was an absolute gent. My eldest asked him to sign his swimming bag at the M Club on the A34 as well, he took it into the changing rooms and got about 7/8 of the players to sign it and brought it back out afterwards. So in the briefest of encounters I've had with him I would suggest he's not a "proper knob"

He was not a very good player and by all accounts not a nice enough bloke. He was allegedly a pain in the arse with an over-inflated opinion of his own abilities and with a tendency to blame others for his own mistakes.Made up bollocks I thought the first part of it needed highlighting more on the bollox scale. To highlight his lack of pace is fair enough, but to say he's not a very good footballer is off beam. Got some great attributes, solid, good in the air, fine distribution, often tries to start quick counters from deep. Good enough awareness on the whole to compensate for his lack of pace. Never looked comfortable on the left, or in the pairing with Ryan, but he covered admirably and I reckon in the middle of a back three with the quicker Zouma and Bruno either side he'd be good. Attitude? seems an oddball, aren't they {we} all to some extent? A bit of National stereotyping perhaps but I could imagine a Germanic arrogance {Klinsman} about him that might rub folk up the wrong way. That doesn't make him a bad player. He's had an interesting footballing journey. If he's happy to play back up, and Cup and he's settled I'd be more than happy to keep. Obviously, the right price and auf weidersehen The Tower. Had a handful of shockers, but in context, overall done well for us.
