Some great pictures of HMS Queen Elizabeth out at sea with HMS Prince Of Wales, and coming back into Portsmouth before heading off to the South China Sea I believe. And while I'm here, our new Type 31 Frigates will be called... HMS Active HMS Bulldog HMS Campbeltown HMS Formidable HMS Venturer Four of them names are ace, I have no idea who/what/where Campbeltown is. I assume it's of some significance, anyone? (Nevermind, I've just been & found out... HMS Campbeltown will only be the 3rd ship to carry this name. The first was made famous by the commando raid on St Nazaire in 1942, known as the the greatest raid of all. The second was a Batch III Type 22 frigate that decommissioned in 2011 , prematurely axed from the fleet in the 2010 Defence Review.) The choice of HMS Campbeltown is intriguing given possibility of Scots independence. Also refers to the choice of HMS Glasgow and Edinburgh for 2 of the new Type 26 Frigates being built.

Very good pics .How are you Lawrie ? I’m well thanks Bish. Had battle with rare duodenal cancer for most of 2019 after major surgery and chemo. Last year I was getting back to fitness at gym but Covid stepped in to close the gym. Picking up the mantel again and had 2 all clear CT scans fingers crossed. How’s your lad doing in the MN? Hope you’re well mate.

The submariners will invariably be having the hardest job of the lot I’d say, and with less chance of a run ashore. There’s obviously soft power on the go here, but again it also looks like a bulwark against the Chinese in this area. The Chinese want to be a genuine blue ocean navy but there’s a bit of ‘all the gear but no idea’ on their part. Interesting to see if the Chinese Navy take a look.

Who owns the small boat,? That’s an old picture of a Royal Navy Through deck cruiser that are all scrapped, alongside a Nimitz class (I think) American carrier.

Like Putin said a couple of years ago. It looks fantastic but Russia have many missiles that would take it out without a problem.
We are not exactly ruling the waves are we.

Last exercise is now complete in the South China Sea so she'll now be heading home. (Although on the way she'll be stopping off for some training with the Indian & Omani navies). Should be home in time for Christmas. (In the photos are ships & aircraft from Australia, Canada, Japan, The Netherlands, New Zealand, The UK & The US).

Weren't the French involved at some point, or have they thrown their toys out?
