I'm now beginning to hate social media. Over the years I've love the oatcake and reading and digesting others opinions, in the past people have put up good arguments and even made me change my opinion.
Today, with Facebook, Twitter etc the moronic views and negativity surrounding our club is unbelievable. It seems that the average IQ of the regular Stoke supporter is very low.
Yes, I'm disappointed that were not spending zillions and that we've sold Jon and Arnie but a ball hasn't been kicked as yet.
We have a shrewd owner who loves the club and let's face it, his motivation isn't financial gain is it? He obviously has his reasons for doing what he's doing. He loves the club. He's a fan and wants success but he also has an air of realism. We don't have the best manager in the world but he's far from the worst.
The game is very different from 20 years ago and a club of our size is doing well to be in and around a mid table position. Were financially sound and have players we could only dream about 10 years ago but what do we get, a whole host of negativity from newer supporters and many older ones who quite frankly should know better.
We do have a very difficult 2 months ahead with the fixtures and it's quite possible we could have a similar start to last season. I dread to hear the comments and reaction in the coming weeks.
I'm totally disliking the whole negative vibe amongst supporters of this era.
People from Stoke are special so lets get a bit of realism back in our bones and get behind our amazing club. The area, the people and our team is something to be proud of.
Come on, let's be real and let's be true and let's be one. Differing opinions are great, total negativity because you're a bit thick and ungrateful is another.
Have a nice day.

People will panic, it's what people do.

I think it's hard to see what the plan is if we have one . It isn't really explained and as fans we just see a team that has been in decline for over 12 months heading into a new season marginally weaker than it ended the last one and it is a worry .

A player chose another club over Stoke......
Shock, horror......
This doesn't mean we are a failure.
It's not only money, latest league position and ambition which attracts players.....
Location (coast and close to the smoke and airport for instance)

I've always had the philosophy of keeping my staff well informed of what's going on in my business and generally things have worked out fine with happy staff , this I think is the problem with the club no one seems to know what's going on so lots of speculation and eventually negative vibes and feeling, I'm not saying the supporters need to know everything just the general direction .

If you flick through the Sunday papers today and the Premier League predictions of scores of journalists you will find that the pessimism is not confined to us 'thick' Stoke fans - we have been tipped for relegation by many people. That wouldn't have happened 2 years back. It's clear that after years of progress we have hit a block and certain issues are either not recognised or not being adressed satisfactorily and hence people get frustrated. It's all fairly understandable and doesn't reflect that badly on us as a supporter group.

I think supporters have a real concerns at the way things have gone over the last 18 months no one can deny that things have not been to good as a decline is obvious to see by anyone who loves the club. People do rant & rave about things but its only concern at what looks like a club going in the wrong direction its called passion & a love for there team not everybody puts it across the right way but the bottom line is nobody wants another 20 odd years away from the top league. Hopefully this coming week brings us something positive to cheer us all up & get everybody back on track.

But we're not staff are we? We're simply paying customers. I don't recall M&S telling me that they were recruiting a new assistant in the underwear department. Although that has made shopping for Y fronts a far more pleasurable experience.

OP is spot on before social media after a loss you had a good moan on the way home and left it at that.
This message board used to be great for a bit of banter now it is dominated in the main by negative posters who are looking to slate the club, manager and players.
Debate is great but some posters make an observation and then repeat their opinion all over the board 100s of times for days on end
When most supporters should be excited by a new season we are having to wade through on a daily basis the tedious club knocking messages by its so called supporters

Location (coast and close to the smoke and airport for instance) Location is a huge factor. The South coast is a nicer place to live than the north west. There may well be some lovely properties an hours drive away but compared to living close to the training ground and the beach there's not much choice to make.

The squad needed strengthening yet we've taken a step back. We've lost 2 of our best players, and that's a big loss. Despite having money to spend, it looks like we're trying to do things on the cheap. A free transfer, a loan signing and a youngster who looks someway off. Out next signing looks likely to be a free transfer too. That is all a bit concerning for me. Spending money doesn't guarantee success, but it can certainly help. Maybe the owners don't trust Hughes to spend large amounts of money on players though. Imbula has been a disaster, Joe Allen doesn't look like he's added 12 million pounds of value to the team and Berahino looks garbage too. 15 million quid yet Diouf and Joselu both look better options. It's all a sorry state of affairs to be honest.

Thanks for that. Can you just let me know how you quantify the difference between a differing opinion or one that is totally negative as I'm a bit thick and ungrateful? It would really really help next time I post or talk to my mates at the game to ensure my opinion is accepted and debated. At the very least, I have learnt from you that the way to distance myself from people with lower IQs is explain the obvious in a patronising and condescending manner.

People will panic, it's what people do. If we get relagated which I don't think we will even if we brought no one in,it's still Stoke city who we will watch week in and week out.If so called fans say they will not attend if we got relagated then we are better off without them.
