Fletcher should be made captain. Ryan needs to concentrate on his football more than ever.

We need our captain to play 90 mins and also more than ten games a season , so for that reason I'm out

Lets not load Shaq with any additional responsibility, lets just hope he continues to perform as he has in pre-season and (please) stay fit.
I know he has come-in for lots of stick.... but I really believe he is one hell of a player.
Goarrrnnn Shaq, give us something to shout about!

Shaq does seem like a man on a mission, playing well pre season, coming looking for the ball all across the front line. Never captain material in a million years, but this season, his third, we may well see the real him, the effing off of he who will not be mentioned may well be to Shaqs benefit. Fletcher for me should be given the armband for Everton, leave Ryan as club captain and let him get back to his best matchdays.

The present Shawcross situation is very analogous to the John Terry situation of last season. The club needs an exit strategy so he can leave with dignity before it gets embarrassing.

Fletcher is impressed with the Shaq man. Stoke's Fletcher likens Shaqiri to Messi via @onefootballen. Read it here: 1.ftb.al/zNTc/JAe5OzJP9E

Shaq is probably the only stoke player who gets me excited when he has the ball.arnie didn't sobhi maybe.but the only plus point for me from last season was that shaq managed to play the last 6 or 7 games without any probs.mh knows hes more fragile than his mothers best china, but if he is able th manage his game time and play him for 80% of games then we will benefit richly. and for those who keep spouting the bleeding obvious yes at some point shaq will move on to bigger and better things so lets just enjoy his football while he is still here.

Zouma for captain? A 23 year old player, who isn't even ours and has been in the dressing room for all of a few hours?!

Never in a million years. Would rather see glen Johnson be the captain than that clown. Why such vitriol against Allen? Because he is utter crap. If played as a central midfielder he could be decent assuming he learns to be disciplined, but as a number 10 he was as successful as Stephen hawking in the Olympics.

I would say extend Shaqs contract and build a team around him, but the trouble is,contracts as we know too well, are a pile of crap The only possible way to tie him (or any player) up is pay him a ridiculous salary and load the contract up with incentives and loyalty bonuses that are very difficult for other teams to match. That said, it is very difficult to keep a player if some comes in with a big offer; but, it at least guarantees a big off.

As it stands our seasons hopes hinge on Shaqiri staying fit. He's our only genuine top class attacking talent now that Arnautovic has gone and Hughes has to find a way of getting him involved more in games, and then keep his fingers crossed he stays fit.

Did anyone who went the Bolton game see the spat between Shawcross and Butland? I put it down to Jack commanding his area and marshalling his troops etc. Ive been thinking have the players lost confidence in Ryans ability to lead, could a change in leadership change our fortunes on the pitch?
Having seen Jacks outburst and passion could he be the man for the job, certainally fits the bill, hes guaranteed to be ever present and perhaps giving him the arm band will persuade him to extend his SCFC stay by a few seasons

More of this please Shaq! As others have said, it's vital he stays fit this season - certainly going to need him now more than ever, as things stand. Granted I haven't seen much of pre-season but very encouraging to read he's been playing well and raring to go.
