Neat finish, criminally underused last season.

Great player to have brings energy and pace to the squad. I'd quite happily see him start most weeks, in fairness to Hughes he plays him out wide in away games for those reasons....

Tidy finish, always liked him. But what on earth is the keeper doing there?

Nice finish, he is excellent at right back though

Diouf is much better with through balls to run on to and the six yard box poacher. He is not a hold up link up play type, instinctive finisher needs to be used in the right way.

Unpredictable for sure but the only one who offers us pace and power in attack crazy how Hughes has used him

I have to say I am not a huge fan of Diouf as a striker he misses way too many chances but at the moment I wouldn't be unhappy to see him start ahead of Berahino

Absolutely crazy that anyone considers Diouf ahead of Berahino. You showed a terrible example to use in this thread. Any pro should be able to hit an unguarded target from 20 metres. Dreadful goal keeping. Diouf is a tryer but not good enough to be first choice!

Diouf has been criminally underused as a Striker here. I for one am happy to have him as an option and would like to see him pushing Saido for game time. It will bring the best out of both.

How does Diouf compare with say Arnautovic on chances had and chances missed basis? To my mind he has not had many chances.

I must be in a minority of one , but I would have saved the Saido money and played Diouf there, because as you say, he's the blueprint of what saido has been brought in to do....I'll never get me head around that one !

Don't like him when he's playing wide but he is a good right back. However up front, competition with the other strikers is where he should play mostly.

He's the best right back at the club.
That is a massive issue.

I actually thought he looked good at right back before he went away for the ACN thought he looked class in that position better than as a striker

Diouf is hit and miss but I can see how being big fast and Brave will get him so many goals... Maybe 12 a season?
Crouchy is off the pace borderline slow but if we can get the ball into the right areas at what is a stupid height for every one but crouchy I can see how he is going to score So many goals. Maybe 10 a season
With berahino I am afraid I am struggling to see where the goals will come from. He is not lightening quick and nor is he a handful in the air.

I like Diouf, badly used last season, and must realise his chances are limited with the addition of Berahino....not saying Berahino is better, but Hughes can't risk another expensive flop!!! Had one chance as a striker again at the back end of last season and scored, something Berahino failed to do!!!

Hughes time after time makes himself look stupid, drops players, replaces them with supposedly superior players on big wages, fees only for them to fail miserably and then eat humble pie and bring them back in the frame.
That's why under Hughes we're stagnating and looks as though his transfer antics are crippling this season already.

He scored that from a position yer wingback would take up.
He only played actual right back off the bench against Chelsea in the Cup as I can recall.

Diouf is good in the air, better than on the ground anyway.
I'd hazard a guess that roughly half of his 17 league goals for us are headers?

We started the season with him as striker, first two games {until the arrival of Bony}.

On another not when I typed hoddle it auto corrected to godless funny that with his religious leanings

He has the knack of being in the right place at the right time. He'll score 15 goals in a full season as a striker.

I have to say I am not a huge fan of Diouf as a striker he misses way too many chances but at the moment I wouldn't be unhappy to see him start ahead of Berahino If he's missing as many chances as he's scoring then that's the instincts of a good striker....obviously shows he's popping up in the right places!!! Plus the chances he misses aren't all necessarily shot wide....a fair few have been saved, which is more credit to the keeper saving them, than the inability of Diouf scoring them!!!

It seems to me that, he has taken a while to get to a place in his head where he can play football again, after the sad death of his mum .It could be that hughes has been protecting him. I love his enthusiasm and a good player that always gives all. I think he`ll be played up top this season and he`ll score a few. I`ve got to say I`m not sure yet about berahino , looked lost mostly against Monaco , although plenty of games left to get up to speed.

Diouf has a rather irritating habit of putting his headers straight at the keeper and in one on ones with the keeper he misses many more the he scores Yesterday he hit the post when it was easier to score. We need better and I am not sure that is Berahino. Next season we will lose Annie's and Walters goal contribution. At the moment I can see who is going to deliver in front of goal. Many on here merely want defensive improvements...but you simply have to score. No coincidence the 3 lowest scoring teams got relegated last season
