Tickets on St Pauli site now for the game, but which stand are we going in? I sent a mail til St Pauli yesterday asking the same. I'll post the reply here when I get it Away fans are normally in the corner of the north stand, behind the goal. So I'd presume stoke fans will be there but maybe have the whole stand (or not share it as is normal)as it's a friendly and currently there are only tickets for Pauli fans available for the other 3 stands.

Hi I´m Stefan from hamburg. It´s a friendly game and we are proud that you are coming to watch the game. So I hope it doesn´t will be a problem to share the Gegengerade terrace with you and hope to enjoy a beer together for a good partnership in future

Enjoyed Hamburg last year. St Pauli is clearly the club of the city whereas Hamburg SV draw their support from the region.

We are in Berlin from the Saturday before.......and I was seriously pissed off that we were due to leave before the Leipzig game so this makes up for it big style. 1hr 45mins on the train, close to a final starting XI for the Everton game should be on show, and a great club to visit in St Pauli. Just a shame the game was announced so late, as I am sure that will hit the number of Stokies who will attend. Missus needs to be convinced, as she is still at the "but it is only a friendly" stage. Missus said this morning that of course we are going to the game, that she just wanted to make me sweat for a day or two! We'll be on the morning train from Berlin to spend the day in Hamburg, watch the match and get the last train back. Info on where Stokies are going to meet up for pre-match festivities would be most welcome nearer to the time. reeperbhan no doubt, you could get a mcdonalds to eat then go upstairs for sex for 39 euros according to the big sign above Mcdonalds. There was a summer beach area set up on the reeperbhan last year, temporary bars etc. probably best if you have the Mrs, and a 10 minute walk to the ground, there was also a massive fun fair right next to the ground, loads of bars and food outlets in there.

The funfair is a seasonal thing...2-3x a year. I assume it goes to Hamburg for 4 weeks every Summer but not sure if they are the same dates each year.

Is it safe enough to backpack round Germany by train? I have looked at flights to Hamburg and back to Manchester Monday to Monday so can do both St Pauli and RB leipzig matches. I can get free travel on trains in Germany so looking at doing something like 2 days in hamburg, train to Berlin for 2 days, then train to Leipzig for 2 days. After RB game train back to Hamburg for flights back. Does anybody know if this is good idea? Mrs is telling me do it and now I got the buzz to go for it, but am I mad to do it with a rucksack on my tod?

My travelling in Germany is fairly limited mate but I can't see why it wouldn't be safe, I'd go for it, there's a website called couchsurf and of course airbnb amongst others if you're happy to stay with a local, best way to visit a place I reckon.

Thanks for the replies Clarkeda, PrestwichPotter and Elystokie. St Pauli match looks easy enough to do airport and ground close to city centre. Going enquire at work tomorrow how I get my train staff pass for Germany. Never done European game with Stoke and always wanted to, got bit of money aside I can use and Mrs egging me to do it. Starting to feel nervous this could actually happen!!!

You're welcome mate, in fact I've taken my own advice and just booked mesen on BA0972 from Heathrow Monday night and back Thursday Even treated myself to Business Class on the way out only because I have a load of Avios miles I've had for ages though haha. In cash it's cost me £71, my challenge is to try and drink that much worth on the way out Better have a look for some digs now, can't wait.
