King Pele, Banks,G (geddit?) of Stoke City and the 'Save of the century' at the 1970 World Cup in Brazil? I once heard GB tell a lovely anecdote about that save, apparently as he was gathering his post-save composure, Bobby Moore walked over to take up his position for the subsequent corner, and commented to Banksy: "For fucks sake Gordon, try to catch it next time will you;conceding soft corners against this lot..." 😂 It was Alan Mullery, something along the lines of "You're getting old Gordon, you use to catch those!" Seem to remember Banksy looking momentarily miffed!

"Iconic" - incorrectly confused here with "enjoyable" or "mental"
Id agree with Cruyff turn, Nobby dancing, Gascoigne crying
I would add Best sliding to his knees in the mud and raising his hands in silent prayer, after scoring, after riding some horrific challenges (I think it was Leeds?)
all time - I would go for the pass from Pele to Carlos Alberto in the 1970 World Cup. As good, if not better, than the subsequent goal

Big John Ritchie going down on his hands and knees to complete his hat trick against Southampton and shut Osgood up. As iconic moments go, that took some beating.

In this film Pele talks about the pass to Carlos Alberto which, as you suggest, is as good as Alberto's finish, it's sublime. Look out also for a similar pass Pele makes in the build up to Jairzihno's goal v England, just goes to show what a player Pele was. Enjoy.

Nobody had made a save as good as that before on such a stage watched by as many people. It was the the best outfield player of the time against the world's best keeper. It was a great save and truly an iconic moment. **Have there been better saves since? No doubt**, Banksy himself made one from Hurst's penalty in '72, but that's not the point. To say it was overrated is clearly wrong. As it's widely regarded as the best save ever made, saying it's overrated is exactly what *you're* doing. I agree about it's iconic..ism. its a side note to the thread but i think Seamans save vs Pesch was better

Hurst's third goal NO 1 surely Pele's miss surprisingly it was just sheer magic to watch though. Bank's save Maradona's "Hand of God" Owens goal against Germany is up there as is Gascoigns goal v Scotland. Cantona kung fu kicking the crowd That head butt above was a shock. Then this What a cunts trick. And the referee is fucking useless too. Neither should've been on the pitch again

want to feel old? This was 20 years, 1 month, 1 day ago... The game from behind Carlos as the ballnis moving away from the goal you see the ball shift out the way, then the bal comes back in towards the goal. On freekicks, Beckhamms vs Greece. And on long range shots, this Was it goal of the month? Should've been goal of the bastard season.

Wasn't that when they had a vote for goal of the month and it got highjacked and some cunt from Arsenal won it? Ramsey if my memory is any good? EDIT: It's worse that's I first thought. Jack Fuckin Wilshere (to use his full name) won that goal of the month. Twat. More reason to hate him. Where's that video of Wilko gone!?
