Strangely enough someone has already mentioned it. The Willie Carr/ Ernie Hunt donkey kick routine to score a free kick for Coventry in the late 60's. True improvisation in a move that I think was subsequently banned by the authorities.

I've got to be honest and I won't make myself popular here, but I've always thought that Banks save was a bit overrated.

Firstly can I be a pedantic twat and a fussy old bugger and say that I do wish people wouldn't use the word 'iconic' so totally out of context, it irritates the tits off me. That said, , of things I actually saw I must say the famous 4-4 draw when foxy got sent off, and on the telly I guess the Banks save The Luton game? Fucking brilliant that was. Bloody hell, where have the years gone?! Indeed. Best football match I ever went to, and I remember the early seventies. Crazy game, seemed to go on for hours

A hopeless question in many ways, but to me Sidibe's goal in our 3-2 victory over Villa in our first season! It was a massive feeling of joy and ease at the same time, a memorable moment I'll never forget! I can almost still feel the goosebumps! That goal made me belive it was possible to stay up!

Any Sidibe goal is a collector's item mate The Fuller goal from Lawrence's pass was awesome. Lawrence "tripping over his dog". And Zidane on Matterazzi. I blame Kitson.

If Fuller's goal had been scored by Messi the Pundits would have been out of their chairs, but luckily it was only Ric! Ric's goals away to West Ham and Home against Bham were also fantastic moments for us Stokies!

I've got to be honest and I won't make myself popular here, but I've always thought that Banks save was a bit overrated. Seriously ? I just think it looks much more spectacular than it actually was. Very good save and everything but the pace was taken off the ball by the bounce and it ended up at a nice height to scoop it out. Bego made several saves for us which I think were better.

want to feel old? This was 20 years, 1 month, 1 day ago... The game from behind Carlos as the ballnis moving away from the goal you see the ball shift out the way, then the bal comes back in towards the goal. On freekicks, Beckhamms vs Greece. And on long range shots, this

I've got to be honest and I won't make myself popular here, but I've always thought that Banks save was a bit overrated. Nobody had made a save as good as that before on such a stage watched by as many people. It was the the best outfield player of the time against the world's best keeper. It was a great save and truly an iconic moment. Have there been better saves since? No doubt, Banksy himself made one from Hurst's penalty in '72, but that's not the point. To say it was overrated is clearly wrong.

Anyway, this isn't about your opinion of the save, it's about iconic moments in football and that save is right up there.

King Pele, Banks,G (geddit?) of Stoke City and the 'Save of the century' at the 1970 World Cup in Brazil? I once heard GB tell a lovely anecdote about that save, apparently as he was gathering his post-save composure, Bobby Moore walked over to take up his position for the subsequent corner, and commented to Banksy: "For fucks sake Gordon, try to catch it next time will you;conceding soft corners against this lot..." 😂

The final whistle v Leicester that ended 24 years in the wilderness As daft as it sounds the Leicester game was a weird anti climax for me. I don't know why but it just never sunk in for me til the Villa game. When Mama's goal went in my mates jumped on top of me, I hide for a minute under them while I tried to stop crying. After the Leicester game I just wandered round on the pitch in a state of confusion. I just couldn't "feel" it. I was obviously delighted but it just didn't properly sink in. I still don't know why.

Quite simply this:- The beautiful game summed up in 46 seconds. End of discussion. This for me. Total football and against Italy too! Personally for me 1. Huddy's Stoke debut 2. Seeing Ajax at the Victoria Ground - had never seen football like it 3. Terry Conroy's goal at Wembley. First Stoke goal at Wembley in a Cup Final!!! 4. Seeing Maradona at Wembley....simply the best footballer ever!
