They were in for him at the same time we were. He said he had a few offers and thought Stoke was the best move with the advice from his brothers and Mark Hughes. So that's a no then Anyway regardless of that, we are not as big a club as Everton and probably never will be.

There were numerous reports of them bidding and even having fees agreed. Now rumors can just be rumors, but at the time it was everywhere that we were competing with Everton for his signature. Based on that I think it's unfair to say we aren't as an attractive proposition as they are. I do agree that they're a bigger club.

We should be aiming for the Champions League ? Fucking hell, I've read some baffling shit on here over the years but that's right up there.

As per usual, a realistic view is somewhere in between the two extremes on this thread. Realistic ambition for me is to simply see obvious progress from last season. I'd be perfectly happy with 9th or 10th, as long as we get back to playing some quality football. A decent cup run would be an added treat.

Any Stoke fan who believes we are as big as Everton and as attractive a proposition to players needs sectioning. Shaqiri chose us over Everton. Begovic chose Stoke over Spoz. Perhaps we could guarantee more game time?
