Very foolish we never brought a creative midfielder in this summer & let Bojan go.

Afellay is a quality player, I for one will be glad when he is back. He slows the game down way too much. He's not needed except for the last 15 minutes when a game is won to keep the ball. Ireland in this system at his best though would be good to watch.

I know I've been on the whiskey since Harvey, but this made me look at the bottle to see if it wasn't making me see double. Ireland and afellay 😳

Knowing some of our "fans" you'll probably get hate mail for that comment! You call them "fans" ?....... I'd like to call them blind, clueless oafs, but I don't like being rude to fellow Stokies, so I won't. 😉 I could suggest far far worse.

Given it took people an age to like a far superior player who was accused of doing what Afellay actually does.

Daily Mail reporting that we are offering Stephen Ireland ANOTHER new deal. Jesus fucking wept - he did fuck all for an entire year BEFORE he got injured and he's hardly looked desperate to get back to full fitness since the last new deal. Plus, he would take up a squad place and a wage we could have given to someone to come in (either midfield cover or a new right back). We are supposed to be a football club, not a fucking charity for past it and crippled players. What's next, contract extensions for Johnson, Adam and Afellay?
Let's just hope they got their facts wrong.

A terrible signing. Useless apart from one game.
No appetite. Another forgotten has been footballer on substantial wages.

I know I'm in a minority but if Ireland can get fit he is a very decent squad player. One of the few midfield players we have who can find a colleague with a pass.

I'd give him a very small wage and a pay per play package

It's very odd and goes beyond the getting him fit bollocks.

Impressive how quickly some jump at the chance of slagging off the club. Ireland is probably been given a very modest contract in ordet for him to use club facilitets in his rehab (due to insurance matters I guess?). This is just Stoke City doing the decent think and full credit to them for that. I can’t see Ireland playing for us again.

He needs to be let free so he can carry elsewhere in January. Nor can I, so what's the point?
