All the best to the bloke..He gave us a lot of good memories..and Stoke City were good for Jon Walters of course !
It's to his credit that many more gifted footballers could not hack the premiership.
Fitting that his final real telling contribution as a Stoke player was his brilliant control and cross for Crouch to head in against Hull and turn the game back in our favour.Had we not won that match things could have been extremely uncomfortable.
Good luck Jon...except when we play Burnley!

The fawning towards Walters on this thread from a few posters is embarrassing and in my opinion downright stupid. The bloke is indeed a symbol of the establishment of this club in the Premier League, and his character and work ethic is extremely hard to find, however, if we are to develop as a squad to match our rivals, players such as Walters, Crouch and Whelan simply have to be moved on. "The DNA is being lost and the spine is going" It has to, we have to adapt and change, the Premier League is adapting, gone are the days of the traditional and rigid 4-4-2, we need pace, skill and other attributes which these types of players cannot offer anymore. Our DNA has to change and our spine has to change, and transfers such as this one will happen and it is for the good of the team. The players stepping up, some are unknown quantities, but with a club of our stature in the league we have to take risks like this to keep up with the current evolution in the premier league, stagnation and sticking to the old guard will see us relegated. We have vast quantities of skill and talent in our ranks, some of them unproven but I am sure that in time and given time they will shine. Berhino, Arnie, Shaqiri, Bojan, Tymon, Campbell etc etc all these players are the present and future of our squad and the way we play. Walters simply did not fit anymore, and especially did not fit enough to warrant a 3 year contract. Thankyou Walters, genuinely thankyou I wish you all the best. Nothing embarrassing or stupid about expressing our thanks and admiration to one of the most outstanding players in stokes recent history The level of disrespect by some and some very short memories is embarrassing and stupid

To be a successful team you need a combination of creative talent alongside hardworking players who do the dirty work. You need players with flair and those who fight. Jon was a fighter and an invaluable member of the squad. When you've got a fancy Dan in the team and he's having an off day, they're normally anonymous. That's where your grafters carry you through. We'll never be successful unless we have a couple with his spirit and determination in the ranks. Players who know how lucky and privileged they are to be a professional footballer in the top flight, and who give there all to make the absolute most of it. Players who never stop fighting and never give in. We've had plenty more talented players at the club during his time who have offered little to our progression or even taken the piss due to a pathetic attitude. That's something you can never accuse Jon of. From that amazing solo goal against Chelsea to the worldy he scored at Wembley, he's contributed some great goals and special moments during his time at the club. His sense of humour was second to none and his approach to the game was faultless. I loved his wind up merchant attitude on the pitch and his wit on social media off it. All the best Jon. Thanks for the memories.

Good luck Jon, while not the most technically gifted or paciest of players you did your part for the club on the pitch when needed and gave 110%
But for those of you revelling in his sale, putting get in or cheering, you're tossers. Whilst we need to progress at the club meaning selling the likes of Jon as we look for better players, it's no fucking excuse to cheer because he's gone. Does it hurt to say thanks and good luck?

Goodbye SUPER Jonny Walters. A sad day, but I knew this would happen once the contract was up.
Always loved the workrate and commitment. First class.
Will never forget that goal at Wembley.
Walters 19. A personal Stoke Legend of mine. All the best mate.

Looks younger in that photo......as he had some work done? Now wba would not sell us berahino until they had a replacement we just let 12% of our premier league goals walk out the door with no one in and our reliance just doubled on a bloke who hasn't scored for two years . On top of which about 20% of the steel in the squad just walked with him Now of course time stand still for no one but replacement is critical and the onus building day by day on the club to show and deliver intent otherwise This has the potential to develop into the worst window in our somewhat mixed bag of windows

Walters, Crouch and Whelan simply have to be moved on. Whelan and Walters need to be moved on. Crouch i have no issues with, the guy is a good pr man for the stoke brand and his game never relied on pace and is a good plan b option. Walters game relied on constant harrassing off defences, that has been on the wane for a while, whelan too, we have diouf to do the walters' job, we just need a brick shithouse def midfielder now!

Joe Allen is equally adept at running around a lot whilst doing fuck all. Shaqiri, believe it or not, will assume the mantle of the dressing room practical joker whilst Arnie will take up the mantle of penalty misser extraordinaire. Unless of course you mean we need a replacement for early season league cup matches of course. He always did well in those, particularly against lower league opposition, when attitude was more important than ability.

I'd like to see ngoy and verlinden or Campbell given Walters spot on bench ! Only way we're going find out if they're good enough is to try them out.

Btw. The season you talk about Diouf scored 12 and Walters 11. And as you say Diouf played up front the whole time. Not that compelling is it? Diouf actually played wide that season as much as he played up front, he didn't score a hat trick nor did he take penalties and he missed 5 weeks of the season due to his participation in AFCON. He still outscored Walters. Not that compelling is it? Funny that NOT scoring a hatrick is a point to prove how awesome a forward someone is. The original posters point was about the fact that Diouf would have undoubtedly outscored Walters over the years. On the wafer thin evidence of a season when he scored one goal more than Walters. I don't give a shit whether they were Premier League goals or not. A goal is a goal. And regardless of how many games Diouf missed for the AFCON he played as many if not more games than Walters over the season. But hey, you think the evidence of his superiority over Walters is compelling so...

Jon Walters did not score 11 goals in a premier league season. The point the original poster was making is that Diouf is actually only one of 4 players from Stoke to score 10 premier league goals in a season. Wow. 10 goals. That is something. I stand corrected.
